How to Make 30 Second Nut Milk without any soaking, straining, & NO MESS! Two easy nut milk recipes for homemade almond milk & chocolate hazelnut milk.
Hi everyone! I am currently in my third week of an intense candida die-off diet in an effort to help solve my many digestive issues. In regards to my candida diet, I will be posting separate & in-depth posts once I fully complete the cleanse. One of the main things that is absolutely not allowed while on this cleanse is sugar, in all forms, added, natural, & even fruit. I have a MAJOR sweet tooth so the only thing that has been my saving grace the past few weeks have been nut butters.
Today I wanted to focus on the versatility of using nut butters in the kitchen! I’m a huge fan of nut butters & use them sometimes daily! I love drizzling them onto my smoothie bowls, oats, on top of banana bread, chia seed pudding, enjoying them with apples or bananas, the list could go on & on! I also like to make my own dairy-free milk using nut butters too!
Do you drink dairy-free milk?
I know a lot of us do. So let’s break it down a bit.
I think there is such a common misconception about dairy-free milk in the health & wellness world. We think it’s deemed automatically “healthier” because it’s “dairy free”. A large majority of people consuming dairy-free milk are those who want to make healthier choices or people with a dairy allergy or some other digestive issue.
For years, I was using a dairy-free almond & coconut milk, different brands here & there, but always always dairy-free. I didn’t see an issue with it & throughly enjoyed the taste, as I’m sure most do.
When I returned home from Sweden, I completely stopped buying & drinking ANY brand of dairy-free almond milk.
Here’s why.
No matter the brand, dairy-free milk, (this includes cashew, walnut, almond, rice, soy, & hemp, flavored or unflavored) contains awful additives such as gums, added sugars, carrageenans, natural ingredients or flavors, Vitamin A Palmitate & forms of lecithin.
- Added Sugars – let’s put this into perspective, a cup of Chocolate Almond Breeze has 20g of sugar & a cup of Coke has 26g…sound healthy or necessary? No thanks.
- “Natural Flavor” – the first time I learned about “natural flavoring” was on Lilsipper’s blog. Check out her post on natural flavors here…especially if you drink vanilla almond milk, be sure to take a look lol!
- Carrageenan – undigestible chemical used as a thickening agent/food additive
- Xantham Gum – this is in everything! Xantham gum is composed of sugar residue secreted by a microorganism
- Gums (Guar Gum, Locust Bean or Carob Bean Gum, Gellan Gum, Acacia Gum) – these are thickening agents & can be awful for those who suffer from digestion issues because they are most indigestible
- Vitamin A Palmitate – can become toxic in the body
- Lecithin (all forms) – lecithin is a food additive that is chemically extract & then used to make a product creamy in texture
After researching TONS of Dairy-Free Brands, there wasn’t ONE of these that were free of the listed ingredients (above)
- Blue Diamond Almond Breeze
- Pacific (Almond, Hemp, Soy, Cashew, Coconut, Oat Milk)
- Califia Farms
- Silk
- So Delicious
- Elmburst
- Almond Dream
- Trader Joes Almond Beverage
- Whole Foods Market 365 Almond Milk
- New Barn Almond Milk
- Simple Nature Almond Beverage (Found @ Aldi’s)
- Friendly Farms Almondmilk Original (Also found @ Aldi’s)
- Starbucks Almond Milk
- Ripple
- Milkadamia
That’s A LOT of brands that are deemed “healthy” but contain at least one of the examples of added CRAP mentioned above!
I have found 1 clean brand…which is called MALK. MALK however is in very few stores & it’s not located within 75 miles of my location in New Hampshire, so that’s out of the question lol! But good for you if you can find it!
So instead of going on a road trip to try to find some clean dairy-free milk, I’ll just stick to making my own for now. I really have enjoyed making my 30 second nut milk in my Vitamix, but you can make your own with any high speed blender. The best part about making your own milk with a nut or seed butter is all you have to do is blend & pour. No need for any cheesecloth straining or using a nut milk bag, which drastically saves on time & doesn’t make a mess!
Once you find a clean nut butter, such as the Dastony butters from Windy City Organics, you are half way there. Since Dastony Stone Ground Nut & Seed butters only contain 1 ingredient, you can rest assured that you will not be consuming ANY preservatives, oils, added sugars, salt, or natural flavors.
Use Code RGMadi10 for 10% off the site!
Side note: be sure to check out how I drizzled the silky Dastony almond butter on my coconut flour pancakes, shared in my other post today. I also used my homemade almond milk in the pancakes as well! This just shows how versatile the “milk” can be. Even though it primarily is water-based, it does not have an affect on baking or the consistency of the food!
Homemade nut/seed milk will stay good for about 5 days. But the best part about it is that you determine how much you make based on how much water you put in the blender. So no issue in wasting…if don’t need a lot, don’t make a lot, simple as that. Also, since this milk is free of any thickening or binding agents, as well as any preservatives, you will see the milk separate a bit after sitting in your fridge. No worries. Just shake it up.
So here’s how I do it! Also, check out that froth!!
30 Second Nut or Seed Milk
- Fill a blender with preferred amount of purified water
- Scoop & add a heaping spoonful of nut or seed butter
- Sprinkle in a dash of cinnamon
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla
- Add a pinch of Himalayan Pink Mineral Salt (optional)
- Blend at a high speed
- Pour & enjoy!
30 Second Chocolate-Hazelnut Milk
- Fill a blender with preferred amount of purified water
- Scoop a heaping spoonful of Dastony Hazelnut Butter
- Sprinkle in a dash of cinnamon
- Add 1-2 tbl of Organic Raw Cacao Powder
- Blend at a high speed
- Pour & enjoy!
There you have it! SO easy right?! AND just think about how much money you will be saving as well by not buying expensive dairy-free milks!
Another one of my go-to’s during my candida cleanse has been Lee From America’s famous fat ball recipe. The original recipe calls for three medjool dates, but since I am not consuming sugar, I substituted the Dastony almond butter to replace the dates. To do this, I just added 1-2 tbsp of almond butter to the dough. The recipe also calls for 1/3 cup of almond milk…so guess what I used!!
These fats balls are full of good fats, hence the name & are literally AMAZING! Especially if you put a dollop of nut butter on top, omg…so good!
Would you ever try to make your own 30 second nut milk?

This sounds delish! Definitely going to try it!
Thanks girl! It’s so easy! xo
Like this idea very much! I will definitely try it because it looks so easy and healthy. Now I am cutting the gluten and the dairy products of my meal and I need some ideas 🙂 Thanks for sharing 🙂
