These candida friendly coconut flour pancakes follow strict candida diet guidelines & make for the perfect gluten free, candida diet breakfast alternative!
Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day. I frequently go from wanting something really sweet, to something really savory & I beg Devin to take me to Tucker’s (this AMAZING breakfast spot near us) almost weekly. But thanks to my insanely strict candida die-off diet, I’ve really had to use my imagination because all of those sweet & some of the savory things that I SO enjoy eating for breakfast, are completely off limits for me right now. UGH. BUT these candida friendly pancakes are here to save the day & are a perfect for a candida diet breakfast option!
If you’re new to the idea of a candida diet or candida friendly recipes, the purpose of the two is to die-off candida, also known as yeast overgrowth, found within our gut. Through the elimination of many foods, #1 being sugar…both added & natural, you should begin to see improvement due to the die-off of the yeast, which gives your gut micro biome a reset & can tremendously improve your gut & overall health.
Unfortunately many people have candida overgrowth, without even knowing it!
A candida friendly diet can be incredibly overwhelming. But for sure doable, as long as you follow the proper guidelines to get your gut back on track. Although you do have to eliminate sugar in all forms, refined grains, yeast, dairy, vinegar, raw foods, & alcohol, just to name a few, you are still able to enjoy many things such as healthy fats, nut butters, eggs, grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, bone broth, collagen, cooked vegetables, sprouted grains, herbs, honey, herbal teas, & superfoods like chia seeds, flaxseeds, pumpkin, & hemp seeds!
Having candida friendly recipes at hand can be really beneficial for staying on track with your candida cleanse. They immediately eliminate the guessing of what you can or can’t have when it comes time to make a meal!
These candida friendly pancakes are perfect because they follow the candida diet cleanse & they make a fantastic & filling breakfast option! The base of these pancakes is coconut flour. Coconut flour, as well as, coconut oil falls within the guidelines of the candida diet. Coconut oil is highly beneficial when trying to die off yeast overgrowth due to it’s anti-microbial properties. The fatty acids found within coconut oil attack the candida membrane. This process assists with the die-off of the yeast.
PRO TIP: When buying coconut oil, be sure to look for unrefined, cold-pressed, & organic.
And since we’re on the topic of candida diet breakfast recipes, finding something that satisfies your morning sweet tooth might be a little tricky since most smoothies bowls, oats, granola, fruit, & toast is pretty much off limits when following the cleanse. For me personally, adding a little drizzle of raw almond butter definitely satisfies my sweet tooth & makes these delicious coconut flour pancakes that more filling! I also like to add a sprinkle of raw coconut flakes & raw cacao nibs for a little something extra!
ALSO…just so you know, you don’t have to be on a candida diet to enjoy these candida friendly pancakes. My little brother Mylan, is known to be a picky eater… my mom made him these pancakes & he LOVED them!
These coconut flour pancakes are candida diet approved &…
- easy to make
- gluten free
- grain free
- dairy free
- sugar free
- can be nut free by substituting the milk
Candida Friendly Coconut Flour Pancakes Recipe Notes:
This pancake recipe does call for three eggs. Some people may have differing opinions whether or not they see eggs being a part of the “dairy” category. I personally do believe the two are different. At the time of this post, I did tolerate eggs & they are allowed to be eaten while following a candida cleanse diet. You are more than welcome to try substituting the egg for a flax-egg, but it may cause the consistency & appearance of the batter to be a bit different. I personally did not test this recipe using a flax-egg or egg replacement.
I also used my homemade nut milk as an ingredient in this recipe too! Mainly because it doesn’t contain any added sugar, which is, as mentioned, off-limits when following the cleanse. If you are able to find a store-bought nut or seed milk that doesn’t contain any sugar – go for it!
This recipe also calls for a scoop of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides. Collagen is one of the recommended foods/supplements to include when following a candida diet because it helps to reseal the lining of your gut. Before I transitioned to a vegan diet, I added collagen whenever possible!
Although I list collagen as an ingredient, it remains completely optional!

Hi Sue! Thanks for stopping by – unfortunately a flax-egg isn’t a direct substitute for the eggs in this specific recipe but you can certainly try! Best of luck to you on your healing journey! xo
Oh yum- what’s not to like about these babies!! Thank you for such a fab recipe- I have been struggling for tasty breakfast recipes so glad I tried this one. I topped mine with coconut flakes, almond butter and raspberry ‘jam’ (microwaved to jam). D licious!
Sounds delish! I’m so glad you enjoyed them & I appreciate you taking time out of your day to share your feedback! xo
Oh I can’t wait to try these as a Sunday treat! I just started this diet and am trying to make it fun when possible by trying new recipes. These sound amazing. My doc said a small amount of berries are permitted so I might just have to add some precious blackberries on top, as I live in Oregon and they’re growing everywhere/perfectly ripe right now.
That sounds perfect Lisa!! I’m so glad you came across my recipe! Hope you love it! xo
These look amazing! Can I substitute the flaxseed for chia seeds or almond flour ?
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! You can definitely add some chia seeds, I’d do a 1/2 tsp instead of a tbsp if you’re trying to substitute it for the flaxseed. The flaxseed isn’t an essential ingredient in this recipe, more so just to add some more nutrients, so you can skip it completely if it doesn’t work for you!
Is this supposed to come out like a batter because mine is thick?
It shouldn’t be too thick, did you make any substitutions?
This looks so good! Does it matter if the flaxseeds are whole or ground?
Hi Mary! Thanks for stopping by! I would definitely suggest ground flaxseeds!
Hi can I use buckwheat flour instead?
You can definitely try! If you’re looking to make them Candida friendly, I’d suggest double checking to see if buckwheat flour is a good choice within the Candida diet!
Question: The ingredients list has 2 Tbsp of Coconut Oil but the instructions say to mix everything together except the coconut oil. I’m confused…..is the coconut oil only used for cooking them on?
Yes, use the coconut oil on the skillet to cook them!
