Sharing my favorite getting ready wedding photos, plus a list of all of the hair & makeup products I used to achieve my wedding day glam!
It’s hard to believe Devin & I have been married for over a month now – time really does fly! I’ve been so busy, I haven’t made time to sit down until this past week to start putting together some blog posts recapping our spectacular day, but now that I have, I’m beyond excited to share all the details here on the blog. I always love seeing wedding blog posts, which is definitely a reason why I wanted to share parts of my wedding day, but also for selfish reasons. One of the best parts of having this blog is having the ability to recap really amazing events in my life, such as my Denmark engagement, & now my wedding, for me to then look back on!
Today I’m kicking off the wedding posts with my favorite photos from getting ready, plus all of the wedding day glam details, what I did for my hair, makeup products used, etc! Since we planned our wedding so quickly (…in 4 weeks) finding someone to do hair & makeup in the middle of Vermont was quite the challenge, so I ended up doing both my hair & makeup myself! At first I was really worried that it would just look like my “everyday makeup” since I’m the one doing my makeup everyday, so I was unsure about how I’d take my makeup skills & elevate them enough to achieve a “bridal” look. But I got together with a sweet friend of mine & we chatted about a few ways I could elevate what I normally do & wow I’m so happy we did that, because it really made a difference! Overall, I was thrilled with how everything turned out – so I hope you enjoy this post!
SKINCARE DETAILS:
For skincare, I wanted to keep things simple, but effective. I got my eyelashes done a week before the wedding & to make sure they were in the best condition as possible for the wedding, I didn’t use eye cream or any of my favorite oils, or oil-based products leading up to the wedding. On the morning of the wedding, I cleansed, toned, applied my two serums, & then the cooling eye masks listed below. I left the eye masks on for about 20 minutes & after I removed them, I used my jade roller on my face to help my skin absorb the eye mask serum left over! This was SO refreshing! Finally, I applied my moisturizer!
- Cleanser – Counter+ Charcoal Cleansing Bar
- Toner – Countermatch Hydra-Gel Radiance Toner
- Serum – Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Serum
- Vitamin C Serum – Counter+ All-Bright C-Serum
- Moisturizer – Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion
- Eyes – Counter+ Eye Revive Cooling Masks
MAKEUP DETAILS:
Below are all of the makeup items I used to achieve my wedding day makeup look. Everything I used was clean except for two products, I used a dropper of Iconic London Illuminator Liquid Highlighter drops & mixed it with my LAWLESS liquid foundation before applying it with a damp beauty blender. This suggestion came from my friend, & I was uncertain into how it’d look, but I really do think it made a huge difference & really elevated my face makeup, giving me a bridal glow! And the second product I used was an old Kylie Cosmetics Concealer I had found in my makeup collection. Definitely expired but hey, it gave me the coverage I needed for the day! All of the other products I used are listed in the order applied!
- Primer – Bite Beauty Changemaker Skin-Optimizing Primer
- Foundation – LAWLESS Woke Up Like This Foundation in Kalahari with a few drops of Iconic London Illuminator Liquid Highlighter mixed in…all applied with a damp beauty blender!
- Setting Powder – LAWLESS Seal The Deal Loose Setting Powder in Shade Translucent
- Bronzer – LAWLESS Summer Skin Velvet Matte Bronzer in Shade Golden Hour
- Blush – Beautycounter Satin Blush in Shade Nectar

EYELASH DETAILS:
A week before the wedding & after LOTS of internal debate, I decided to get eyelash extensions. Long story short, I absolutley loved them & they ended up being some of the best money I spent towards the wedding & made a WORLD of a difference in my photos. I knew I didn’t want to struggle with applying strip lashes day-of & with my very sensitive, watery eyes, I also knew I didn’t want to be continually wiping mascara out from under my eyes the entire day. I wrote an entire blog post about my experience getting eyelash extensions here if you’d like to read more. 100% worth it!!
SPRAY TAN DETAILS:
Three days before the wedding, I got a gorgeous organic spray tan by Jennifer Lynn Spray Tans at Blush, which is a local beauty boutique & spa, like 2 minutes from my home in New Hampshire. I had gotten a spray tan from Jennifer last summer before going to St. Lucia & absolutely loved it & knew I wanted her to do my spray tan for the wedding too. To say she did a stunning job, would be an understatement. I made sure to have my nails/toes done the day before my spray & made sure I kept my skin nice & moisturized the next two days leading up to my wedding!
HAIR DETAILS:
I’m SUPER particular when it comes to my hair. Obviously finding someone for hair & makeup with such short notice was pretty difficult…& honestly I was pretty torn if I even wanted someone else to do my glam regardless! Ultimately, we didn’t find anyone so hair was up to me! I knew the look I was going for, which definitely was a bit looser than what my hair actually looked like on the day, but I loved it regardless.
Here’s what I did!
On Friday, the day before my wedding, I booked a wash, blow out, & style at my salon at 3:00pm. My usual hair stylist at the salon didn’t have availability that afternoon so I saw another stylist (in the salon) that I’d never seen before. I explain to her the look I was going for – really bouncy, blown out, curls & kinda let her take things from there. She gave me super tight curls that I could then brush out the next morning to help me achieve my desired look.
I did just that. I slept on my curled hair Friday night, woke up Saturday morning (the wedding), kept my hair in a loose pony while I did my skincare & face makeup, & then brushed out my curls. Since my hair is naturally curly, I never have an issue with volume but I used the Dry Bar Southern Belle Volume-Boosting Powder, that I had borrowed from a friend of mine & guys, it’s not a clean product, but wow, was it a LIFE SAVER. It gave me next level volume & gave my roots a texture that literally glued things in place…which was more than ideal.
My hair could have stayed volumized for weeks haha! It was amazing!
So after I brushed out my curls, I sectioned off a few parts of my hair surrounding my face & applied the volume-boosting powder. It’s kind of a weird texture…it looks like a powder, but is kinda tacky, so you want to work quick. Basically I just worked it into my roots like I would a dry shampoo! I did the same thing in my middle part & towards the back of my head where I attached my cathedral veil. This gave the veil something to grab on to…I didn’t even have to use bobby pins!
I also borrowed my friends hairspray too – again, it wasn’t clean, but hey I’m only getting married once & wanted my hair to stay in place haha! The hairspray she leant me was so good – super lightweight but gave my hair & curls the best hold. After I brushed the curls out, I touched up pieces that needed touched up, applied the volume-boosting powder, & placed my hair how I wanted it, I then went in & gave my head a good spray with the hair spray!
That was it! Super simple for the hair. I always knew I never wanted anything crazy like intricate braids & definitely not an up-do haha! Not saying those things are bad…but I just always knew it wasn’t for me! I loved how my hair turned out. Like I mentioned earlier, my curls were tighter than I had originally envisioned, but I still loved it. AND it held ALL DAY.
My Favorite Getting Ready Photos
I spent the morning alone in the bridal suite doing my hair & makeup – it was perfect…I had time to gather my thoughts, make my spirulina smoothie, listen to an amazing wedding day playlist, do a meditation, write Devin a letter, do my skincare routine, etc. And then, my mom, Devin’s mom, & sister came over to help me get into my dress! We of course got our “getting ready” girls photos before my dad came in & saw me in my dress, which was a moment I’ll never forget! Devin got ready in the main house – I snuck a few photos of him getting ready in this post too – we didn’t see each other until I walked down the aisle!
