Sharing my wedding planning process, as well as, detail shots I loved from our August 8th wedding, including my bouquet, invitations, wedding shoes, rings, & more!
Devin & I were engaged for almost 3 years prior to our August 8th wedding. He proposed back in December of 2017 & honestly we never got around to planning a wedding! He plays basketball which currently requires him to never be in the same place for long which causes lots of uncertainty when it comes to scheduling, which made wedding planning quite difficult! Earlier this year, in February, was the first time that we actually sat down & talked about how we wanted to celebrate! Obviously a lot has changed since February in terms of COVID, so we decided to put our plan on hold for yet another year…
We were pretty much set on next summer – I was flexible, but knew I wanted a date within the summer months – until my younger brother asked when we were getting married after playing a round of mini-golf. Next thing I knew, I was planning an August 8th wedding for 12 people, happening in literally four weeks! We decided that it was going to happen on July 9th!
Devin’s mom thankfully knew an incredible wedding & events planner named Sorrell from Events by Sorrell & she really helped us get the ball rolling! Especially because I had zero inclination of what I wanted haha! Devin & I originally mentioned that we’d be more than happy to just head over to our local courthouse, I’d wear a short white dress, & pair of fabulous heels, & we’d seal the deal. Long story short, that obviously didn’t happen! We were now planning a “micro” wedding…
Sorrell’s body of work is incredible & wow was she prepared!
She’s been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, New Hampshire Bride, Style Me Pretty, The Knot Magazine, & more! I gave her a few vague suggestions…I mentioned I loved flowers & gorgeous gardens, & told her my ultimate dream color palette would be something incorporating beautiful blush, beige, & pink tones!
To say she delivered would be an understatement! She not only found us our incredible venue, North Mowing Estate…which NONE of us had ever heard of, but she also helped coordinate our scheduling, the entire process of wedding planning, floral arrangements, table designs, caterer suggestions, & more. She was exceptional & her work was beyond stunning. And I’m so thankful that she was included in our day, because if it was left up to me, I would have had zero idea regarding where or how to start the process of wedding planning & wow, would I have been overwhelmed. Working with a wedding coordinator was such a gift & she really helped make the day truly spectacular for everyone involved!
Wedding Details Shots
Invitations…
Even though we didn’t send out invitations, Sorrell had beautiful invitations & wax sealed envelopes made for us & I’m so glad she did because they were perfect for the stunning flat lay shots & a beautiful reminder of our day & celebration.
Something blue…
Of course, I had to have my Carrie Bradshaw moment! For the wedding, I wore a stunning pair of Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Pointed Toe Pumps & even though I wore them for just the ceremony, I’m so glad I splurged because they truly are the most beautiful pair of shoes I’ve ever seen. I got a black sole put on the bottom of the shoes to protect the sole & went a little bridezilla making sure the shoes remained untouched throughout the day haha, like I said, I only wore them for about 25 minutes the entire day! They were too beautiful to wear outside & risk ruining!
Something borrowed…
For my something borrowed, I wore a pair of my mom’s earrings. They were a pair of Mikimoto pearl & diamond drop down earrings & they were stunning with my gown – I loved the dainty touch of gold too!
Our rings…
Devin & I purchased our wedding bands from Barmakian Jewelers in Nashua, New Hampshire. Devin picked out a beautiful yellow gold wedding band for himself & I chose a stunning white gold Tacori crescent diamond eternity band to match the crescent band design on my engagement ring. My engagement ring setting is also a Tacori design & my stone is emerald cut!
The flowers…
We were able to keep flowers to a minimum because our venue had such gorgeous landscaping, but Sorrell helped me coordinate bouquet details with a local florist called Apothēca, which is a flower shop that I’ve admired from a far for a handful of years now! Every floral bouquet I’ve seen them do has been nothing short of extraordinary! Since I didn’t have a bridal party, I only needed a bouquet for myself & a boutonnière for Devin! Apothēca usually doesn’t do single bridal bouquets, but they kindly made an exception! I sent them a picture for inspiration & my color palette & let them do the rest! The final bouquet was a surprise & wow, did I love it.
