Mango Banana Papaya Smoothie
This tropical mango, banana, & papaya smoothie is PERFECT for summer! It’s extremely easy to make, only takes about 5 minutes, & is absolutely delicious to enjoy as a breakfast smoothie or as a mid-day refreshing snack! Depending on your preferences, there can be a handful of ways to make a tropical smoothie, but for this one in particular, I used frozen chunks of mango, banana, & papaya!
Tropical Smoothie Ingredients:
- Banana – Frozen bananas are an essential in any breakfast smoothie I make. Adding a frozen banana to this tropical mango smoothie or any other smoothie will help create a creamy & thick smoothie texture!
- Mango – Mangos are also a great ingredient to add into your smoothies to achieve a really nice consistency. If you’re a Trader Joe’s shopper, I’d recommend checking out their Organic Frozen Mango chunks, found in the freezer section. I’ve been really enjoying them recently & they’re super convenient for tropical smoothies like this one!
- Papaya – I LOVE papaya, not only because it tastes amazing, but because it has some great health benefits. Eating papaya can be exceptional for skin health & digestive health, among other things! Papaya is really high in antioxidants too!
- Vanilla Extract – The vanilla extract in this tropical fruit smoothie can totally be excluded, but I think the subtle vanilla flavor compliments the banana, mango, & papaya nicely! I like this vanilla extract from Whole Foods!
- Almond Milk – For this smoothie, I used almond milk, which is usually my go-to for smoothies, but feel free to substitute another dairy free milk such as oat milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk!
Optional Ingredients:
- Perfect Supplements Hydrolyzed Collagen – I have recently started incorporating collagen back into my diet & I’m thrilled to have found this specific collagen from Perfect Supplements. What I love about them is that their collagen is lab tested for heavy metals & Glyphosate. This collagen is tasteless, odorless, & dissolves in any liquid which is why I love adding it to smoothies because you don’t even know it’s there! Perfect Hydrolyzed Collagen delivers important amino acids that are difficult to find in our typical diet, it’s a fantastic source of protein, supports joint health, assists in digestion, & can help improve the health of your skin, hair, & nails too!
- Nuzest Digestive Support Probiotic Vanilla Protein – This is my go-to brand for an actual clean plant based protein powder that isn’t full of unnecessary ingredients like gums or fillers. It’s formulated with shelf-stable probiotics & doesn’t have a chalky flavor either. I’m a big fan of both the Vanilla & Cacao flavors but for this mango, banana, & papaya smoothie, I used one scoop of the Vanilla! Feel free to add in your plant based protein of choice or omit it all together. I added it into this recipe because I find that adding a clean protein powder helps make the smoothie more filling & nutritious!
How to make this Tropical Mango Smoothie:
- Add all of the ingredients listed below into a high powered blender – I love my Vitamix
- Blend on high until all of the ingredients are smoothly blended.
- Pour into a glass & enjoy!
Tips for smoothie prep:
Like other smoothies that require frozen fruit, you’ll want to make sure your fruits for this tropical smoothie are prepped ahead of time & are fully frozen.
For my smoothie prep, I store frozen halves of bananas in a Stasher bag in my freezer. I like having them on hand so I can just add them to smoothies as needed! I’d suggest purchasing pre-chopped frozen mango chunks from a store instead of using fresh mango. I really like the Organic Mango Chunks from Trader Joe’s. And finally for the papaya, I peel, deseed, & chop a fresh papaya before adding it to a Stasher bag & popping it into the freezer. Once in the freezer, make sure the Stasher bag is laying flat. This will prevent the papaya from freezing into one big chunk.

Expert Smoothie Tips:
I’ve made A LOT of smoothies over the years & have really nailed down how to make not only a delicious smoothie, but one that also has an incredible creamy texture. In my opinion, there’s nothing worse than a smoothie that is too liquid-y or not super cold. Here are a few expert smoothie making tips for this tropical mango smoothie & about every other smoothie out there – be sure to check out this post too for some other ways to make the BEST smoothie bowl!
- Use frozen fruit – Using frozen fruit is KEY for making a good smoothie. If you use room temperature fruit or even fruit stored in the refrigerator, it’s going to completely change the consistency of the smoothie. Adding frozen fruit such as banana, avocado, or mango helps create an amazing & thick smoothie consistency!
- Utilize a tamper when blending – If you’re using a Vitamix blender like I do, you’ll want to make sure you’re using the tamper when blending. Using the tamper will help all of the ingredients make their way down to the blade & therefore, blend smoothly.
- Don’t add too much liquid – Unless you prefer a more liquid-y smoothie, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on the liquid to frozen fruit ratio! The less liquid, the thicker the smoothie will be & vice versa!
