Sharing my experience using The Organic Skin Co. vegan cosmetics & all-natural skincare full of anti-inflammatory properties & supercritical extracts!
I’ve been using both makeup & skincare products from clean beauty brand, The Organic Skin Co. for a little over three weeks now & I’m here to tell you that I’m seriously impressed! When it comes to makeup these days, I’ve shared how it’s important to me that I lean towards cleaner options. My first impression of TOSC was their attention to detail when it comes to ingredients & how important it is, that as a brand, they do good by the environment. All of their packaging is recyclable, they put so much care into their farming, & they plant 1 tree for every purchase! Amazing right?!
Something else that puts The Organic Skin Co. above the rest is something known as their supercritical extracts, which I mention quite a few times when explaining the products below! In a nutshell, supercritical extracting is basically the purest way to extract all the benefits from a plant, seed, herb, etc. & deliver those benefits straight to you & your skin! The concept is pretty amazing & it’s actually something that I’ve never thought of when it comes to the extraction process. But since the extractions are so pure & concentrated, that’s where the results really kick in – because it allows your skin to actually benefit from what you’re putting on it!
I can’t wait to dive into some of these products below, I know you’ll be as intrigued as I was! Any time I talk about products here on the blog, I test the products for a solid 2-3 weeks before saying much. I’ve been consistently using both the beauty & skincare products that I’m about to mention & let me tell you, I’m really happy with their performance! But I definitely have a few favorites – so keep reading to figure that out!
Okay, let’s talk products!
The Organic Skin Co. Skincare
Overall, I have been REALLY impressed with TOSC skincare. I’ve mentioned quite a few times here on the blog that I’ve been dealing with acne – specifically hormonal acne – so there’s been a lot going on. I have a lot of inflammation & left over dark spots, including some scarring, so I really love the intense anti-inflammatory properties & ingredients of these products to help combat all of my current skin needs. Although I do still have some problem areas, I really do think my skin has started to look better once introducing these products, which really excites me! All of their products are vegan, gluten free, cruelty free, & are packages in recyclable materials, which is amazing!
Clean Slate Cleanser
LOVE this cleanser. It almost has the consistency of a lotion & doesn’t foam once you apply it to your skin. It goes on so smooth & helps to melt away any dirt or grime left over from the day. I’m a big fan of double cleansing, both morning & night, so I like to use this Holy Basil Cleanser – which has the most amazing, subtle scent, btw – before I wash my face with my sulphur charcoal soap that I got in St. Lucia. And then again in the evening, right after I remove my makeup.
The formula is extremely gentle & will leave your skin feeling fresh & revitalized. This cleansing face wash contains Sweet Orange Oil, which is great for acne-prone skin due to its anti-inflammatory properties, Amla Berry, which delivers a high dosage of Vitamin C., & Lemon Peel Essential Oil, which is great for cleansing the skin of any impurities.
The Good Oil
This Good Oil is incredible!! I’m big into oils. I think they benefit my skin way more than any moisturizer has, just due to their ability to repair & nourish. The Good Oil, from The Organic Skin Co. is seriously GOOD! It rejuvenates, repairs, hydrates, softens, all without being too greasy or feeling heavy on the skin!
With such a soothing scent & the presence of 5 enriching, nourishing oils (jojaba, almond, apricot, sunflower, & honeysuckle) this is the ultimate oil for adding back moisture into your skin. Not only does it contain those 5 nourishing oils, but it also contains amazing anti-inflammatory properties as well. The turmeric supercritical extract is great for reducing inflammation & keeping irritations at bay. Turmeric is amazing for the skin & the entire body – you can read more about the benefits of turmeric HERE!
Another key ingredient is the Calendula supercritical extract which is also amazing for inflammation & provides wonderful antiseptic, antibacterial, & antioxidant properties. For me, when selecting & choosing products for my skincare routine, I really like to focus on ingredients with benefits like these. I have very sensitive, acne-prone skin & I’m very prone to inflammation, so anything that serves as an anti-inflammatory, I’m all in!
Hydration Agent
I often find that moisturizers sit heavy on my skin, & leave me feeling really greasy. This Hydration Agent Moisturizer does just the opposite. The whipped formula is so light, so it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. At night I’ve been using this moisturizer after I apply my Good Oil, & even after the application of 2 products, my skin can still breathe.
Three areas of focus for me when it comes to my skin is 1. inflammation (acne), 2. hydration (my skin is quick to dry out), & 3. texture. I really enjoy this moisturizer because it checks off all three boxes. The Amaranth supercritical extract provides the skin with Omega 3s & Vitamin E, which is wonderful for texture & tone. Jojoba seed oil is amazing for hydration & helps to minimize fine line & wrinkles. And then this moisturizer also contains the Calendula supercritical extract which helps combat inflammation.
The Organic Skin Co. Makeup
Primp n’ Prime Primer
This Primp n’ Prime primer is stunning. The shade Rose Gold, which is what I have, is so illuminating, goes on the skin so smooth, & is gorgeous just worn on its own! I like a little more coverage when I do have acne. But when my skin gets a little better, I will be wearing this primer solo all the time! A little bit of product definitely goes a long way!
And of course, this primer does more than just prime the skin before makeup application. It’s full of nourishing ingredients such as supercritical extracts of pomegranate, honeysuckle, & rosemary, which are all rich in antioxidants. It also contains something called an alma supercritical extract which is a fantastic source of Vitamin C for your skin & also helps promote collagen! Aloe vera is also an ingredient, which provides your skin with an extra boost of hydration!
Fresh Canvas Liquid Foundation
This Fresh Canvas foundation definitely gives a more light & natural finish. I’m not sure if it was just the texture of my skin, but I found this foundation to be a little difficult to initially blend. You have to work a bit quick to achieve a seamless finish. I found a mixture of applying it with my fingers on my cheeks & chin to work, & then I used a damp beauty sponge to apply the rest. Once you do apply it though, it really does give a pretty & natural finish – almost like you aren’t wearing a foundation.
I do like this foundation because it helps combat inflammation throughout the day while you wear it due to supercritical extracts of pomegranate & seabuckthorn. A blend of cold pressed, organic oils also provides extra hydration!
The Eyes Have It Cream Eyeshadow
This is definitely a type of product that I’m new to. I’ve never really used a cream eyeshadow before, but The Organic Skin Co. has a wide selection of products offered in a “pod” packaging including cream eyeshadow, cream concealer, cheek & lip cream, & pressed eye shadow. You’re able to put together a customizable palette or you can just get single pods of the product as well. They also offer pod refills which is really nice too!
Like I said, cream eyeshadow is definitely new for me. I’d recommend wearing a eyeshadow primer with this cream eyeshadow, especially if you have hooded eyelids like myself. But if you enjoy cream products, I think you’d really like their line & they have a stunning shade range.
Black Lash Mascara
LOVE this mascara! Seriously! I’m super picky about mascaras because my eyes are extremely sensitive & they constantly water throughout the day, which makes finding a good mascara really difficult. Most mascaras I’ve tried over the past few years run under my eyes, which is never a good look. I haven’t tried a natural mascara in a while just because I haven’t found one that actually performs & stays in place throughout the day without the dreaded running.
The Black Lash Mascara defines, lifts, & nourishes your lashes, due to organic aloe vera, shea butter, & castor seed oil! And with the addition of supercritical extracts of honeysuckle & rosemary, this mascara protects the lashes & actually encourages growth.
But the best part is that it stays in place ALL DAY & it’s not even waterproof – which is usually what I have to use. As long as you let it dry completely before you go in with a second coat or eyeshadow if you apply after mascara, you should be good to go! I also really like that for removal of this mascara. It barely requires any scrubbing, it literally slides off with water! I really appreciate that because I try to be as gentle as possible when removing my makeup.
All About The Gloss Lip Gloss
I love a nude gloss & this one is gorgeous. The application is pretty shear but leaves a pretty tint on your lips, while also hydrating. With ingredients such as organic rose hip oil & castor seed oil, this gloss helps keep your lips in amazing condition throughout the day!
This lip gloss is the perfect lipstick topper if you’re looking for a little added shine. I really enjoy wearing this gloss over a matte lip. But of course, it’s really pretty worn on its own as well.
Not only does The Organic Skin Co. offer products that are amazing for your skin, but they’re committed to helping the environment along the way! I love that with every purchase they plant a tree & how caring & thoughtful they are when it comes to farming the ingredients used in their wide range of products.
What product would you be the most excited to try!?
