In September 2022, I completed my very first Medical Medium 369 Advanced Liver Cleanse. This post shares my entire 369 cleanse experience, including everything I ate while on my 9 day cleanse, why I decided to try a Medical Medium protocol, & more!
2022 was an amazing year for many reasons, however, it was also a really tough year for my inflammation. As many of you might know, I’ve struggled with Dyshidrotic Eczema for over 2 years now. You can read about my journey with Dyshidrotic here & here. These posts, especially Part 1, has become one of the most popular posts on my blog, due to other Dyshidrotic sufferers looking for answers, as well as, support. I’ll be sharing another eczema update very soon. But long story short, I was desperate for healing.
Medical Medium 369 Liver Rescue Cleanse
Why I Decided to Cleanse:
Unfortunately, I experienced some of my worst eczema flares this past summer (June-August 2022). It was a really hard few months, because I also was having pretty intense eye inflammation that was very persistent & uncomfortable. Similar to my experience with my hand eczema, at first I didn’t have a clue what was going on with my eyes. I chalked it up to a new product I was using, allergies, stress, etc. it didn’t occur to me that it too was eczema. I also went to see a doctor multiple times regarding my eyes & they didn’t have any answers. They only prescribed me an internal steroid, which I did take, out of desperation.
So between my Dyshidrotic eczema being at it’s worst (I couldn’t bend my fingers for over a week due to how much pain my skin/hand was in), my eyes being inflamed for months, & my hair shedding more than usual, I was exhausted both mentally & physically.
I’ve had the Cleanse to Heal book since 2020 & on August 12th, I sat down on the couch following a pretty awful itching episode. My hand was cracked, throbbing, & bloody, & I told myself I was ready. I was ready to cleanse. I was completely fed up, emotional exhausted, & ready to start to put this misery behind me. The Medical Medium books can be a lot. I remember when I first got the book, I only made it through probably 20 or so pages. But I truly believe when you’re ready to receive the information, you’ll know. Because that’s exactly how I felt.
Below are some photos of my eczema flares.
At the beginning of August, my husband was gearing up to leave the country for his next basketball season, so I told myself I would start the cleanse the day after he left, so I could focus solely on healing. This is recommended when completing the cleanse. It’s suggested that you clear your schedule, stay home, skip workouts, etc. so that your body can solely focus on healing. So on August 31st, the day after my husband left for Norway, I began my very first Medical Medium 369 Advanced Liver Cleanse & didn’t look back!
What is the Medical Medium 369 Cleanse?
The Cleanse to Heal book has a variety of cleanses created by Anthony Williams, through the Spirit of Compassion. I personally chose to do the Advanced 369 Cleanse because that’s what I believed my body needed. I also knew I could handle it because of how I typically eat. The Advanced 369 Cleanse is a raw vegan cleanse & although I am not a raw vegan, I already don’t consume many things most people have to typically be weaned off of before or after starting a cleanse of this nature. For example, I don’t drink coffee, I’m not addicted to caffeine, I love fruits & vegetables, & consume very limited amounts of refined sugar. I also am strictly gluten free (I’m Celiac) & dairy free.
This also was not my first time completing a cleanse. I did a 21 day cleanse in 2021 but it was very different from the cleanses in Cleanse to Heal. If you’re gearing up to do your very first cleanse, I’d recommend really reading through each cleanse the Medical Medium has created & choosing the one you feel called to do. He even has cleanses that are more suitable for beginners.
The 369 Advanced Liver Cleanse is divided into 3 sections – Day 1-3, Day 4-6, & Day 7-9. I talk about each day & the subtle changes between each of the 3 day sections as I walk you through what I ate & drank each day. The final 9th day, you only consume fresh juice & water.
What I loved about this cleanse is there was no guesswork. Everything is clearly laid out for you within the Cleanse to Heal book, so you know exactly what you’re eating & in what order! You also have options & there are wonderful cleanse-approved substitutions for a majority of the recipes in case you don’t like a fruit or vegetable used. All of the meals/ingredients within this Liver Rescue Cleanse are raw vegan, so no cooking required. Everything is also free of refined sugar, oils, seasonings, salt, processed foods, caffeine, etc! It’s as pure as it gets friends!
How to Prep for the Cleanse:
Doing this Medical Medium Cleanse took MAJOR commitment. For me personally, I didn’t find sticking to the meals to be difficult & I didn’t even experience any cravings, however, the prep work to make the meals was A LOT. Very time consuming. And honestly pretty expensive. My grocery bills for just me for 9 days were high. However, the pros FAR far out weigh any cons. I have noticed significant improvement with both my Dyshidrotic Eczema & my eye inflammation, which I am extremely grateful for.
As with many cleanses, you want to go in to the cleanse feeling prepared. I would definitely recommend skimming through the Cleanse to Heal book & reading the sections that resonate with you. Read all the way through the cleanse you will personally be completing. And get familiar with the recipes, because you HAVE to be prepared come Day 1 with what you’re eating, prepping, & consuming.
I also would recommend having some key kitchen tools accessible because in my opinion, they are crucial to completing the Medical Medium Cleanse successfully. Below are the kitchen tools I used during my 369 Cleanse.
Additionally, part of your prep work for beginning the cleanse is making sure it’s a good fit for you health wise & or have a conversation with your doctor. Also, if you need to start weaning yourself off of coffee, soda, sugar, etc., those are things to be mindful of before you dive head first into a Medical Medium cleanse. But the book does a wonderful job of outlining everything to make you feel well supported & knowledgable before beginning.
My Advanced 369 Cleanse Experience
This post is essentially my dairy (each day was written in real time) of going through my first Medical Medium Advanced 369 Cleanse, things I noticed, what I adjusted, the meals & beverages I consumed. A tip that helped keep me on track with this 9 day cleanse was to write everything down, meal & drink wise, & at what time I consumed it. It was really helpful to see what I was consuming & when. Especially because you are consuming a lot of different things as you move through the 9 days!
I’m really excited to share my experience going through my very first Medical Medium Cleanse because honestly, it was a wonderful experience & I will 100% be doing it again this year. I’d actually love to do it twice in 2023 if possible. For me personally, full Medical Medium protocols are a little much for me to follow day in & out, however, I absolutely believe in his method of healing. I’m amazed by how this cleanse helped my hand & eyes in the following months.
I hope by sharing my experience, it helps someone else who may be gearing up to complete their first Medical Medium cleanse or who may just be looking for a way to heal their body.
And just as a friendly disclaimer, this is not medical advice. I am simply sharing my own personal experience. Always consult your doctor first. Also this is NOT a cleanse to lose weight. The intention is solely to promote deep cellular healing.
Days One – Three
Day 1 Recap
Day 1 had me feeling SO excited! Since I’ve been pretty consistent drinking celery juice & the Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie prior to the cleanse, I was definitely looking forward to that part! However, drinking that much water (32 oz) upon waking was really really difficult & took me about 2 hours to finish. I have a hard time drinking water throughout the day, let alone 32 oz just in the morning before consuming anything else.
After I drank the water, celery juice, Heavy Metal Detox smoothie, & another glass of water, I was STUFFED. I also was frequently urinating – like a lot. And that lasted throughout the entire day.
Typically I’m a snacker, so I think I just wanted something to snack on, which is why I had a sliced apple before my lunch smoothie. I definitely didn’t need the apple because the portion of the Liver Rescue Smoothie was HUGE. Just holding the blender was heavy & I ended up eating the smoothie with a spoon because it was thick! After finishing the smoothie, my stomach was extremely bloated & uncomfortable. I had to lay down & I used my Therasage Red Light Panel on my bloat.
The intense bloating was by far the worst part of Day 1, especially because I don’t really experience bloat like that in my daily life anymore. It is NOT something I miss, it’s awful. I’m not sure if it was just my body releasing toxins, or if I was just holding onto the water I was drinking, or maybe the portion of the two smoothies was just a lot.
I went to a Sound Bath in the evening & definitely was not hungry at all. Still pretty bloated too, so I didn’t eat dinner. I just had a cup of my favorite Pique Hibiscus Tea, which is allowed on the cleanse, with a teaspoon of raw honey.
What I ate on Day 1
- 32 oz of water with an entire lime squeezed in
- 24 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- 16 oz of water
- One apple
- The Medical Medium Liver Rescue Smoothie
- 16 oz of water
- Hibiscus Tea with a tsp of honey
Day 2 Recap
I woke up feeling much better on Day 2 but I knew I wanted to adjust some things to avoid the uncomfortable bloat I had the day prior. After my lime water, celery juice, & Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie, I only had water, no apple. Going straight to lunch was definitely the right decision for me. For lunch on Day 2 I tried the infamous Medical Medium Spinach Soup!
The Spinach Soup was definitely intimidating, especially because I heard it was a little difficult to stomach. I immediately knew I would have to make a substitution for the pint of tomatoes. I really do not like tomatoes. At all. What I’ve enjoyed about this 369 cleanse is that there are plenty of substitutions in case you are unable to eat a specific food, don’t have access to something, or simply don’t like it. For the Spinach Soup, there are two substitutions for the tomatoes: banana or mango. The mango sounded much more appealing to me with the other ingredients. I bought 2 bags of frozen organic mango & let them thaw out, so I could easily add them to the vibrant green soup.
Turns out, I LOVED the soup. Seriously, I thought it was delicious! I was also skeptical about the soup being paired with the cucumber noodles (I just used my spiralizer for this) but wow, it was actually very good. I was excited to have it on Day 3 too.
The hardest part about Day 2 for me was preparing & eating the Kale Salad. I went to a 45 minute yoga class around 6pm, so when I got home, I was definitely hungry. The Kale Salad consists of all raw ingredients & involved a lot of cleaning veggies & chopping. I chopped everything first & then used my food processor for the first time to thoroughly chop & infuse the flavors of the salad together. Thank goodness I was able to add dates to this salad because that was the only thing that saved it for me. I don’t love raw kale, so I really didn’t enjoy this salad too much. And really didn’t love the prep work, my kitchen was a mess afterwards.
What I ate on Day 2
- 32 oz of water with an entire lime squeezed in
- 24 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- 16 oz of water in the afternoon
- Spinach Soup with cucumber noodles
- Kale Salad – 1 serving
- Hibiscus Tea with a tsp of honey

Day 3 Recap
I woke up on Day 3 at 4am due to my eczema itching & it went on for about an hour. The Medical Medium says to be mindful of your flares during the cleanse to see if any are out of the ordinary. Throughout the past month, this has been normal for me because of the flare I experienced in July/beginning of August. I’m still coming down from that.
I slept in a little this day because of my itching episode, it’s always very draining. When I officially woke up to start my day, I definitely felt hungry & my stomach looked & felt very lean. Typically I don’t wake up feeling too hungry, but this wasn’t too much of a surprise because the Kale Salad I had for dinner the night prior wasn’t the most amazing tasting salad I’ve had & didn’t leave me feeling full. But as I started to drink my lemon water, which took me about an hour, I could feel my hunger subsiding.
I’m somewhat shocked that I’m feeling so good so far. I really was preparing myself for the worst, but maybe that just hasn’t come yet! My energy levels are normal, my cravings have definitely increased a bit but nothing crazy.
My Day 3 meals were pretty much identical to Day 2, except I did have an apple later on in the day because I was overall hungrier during this day. Bloat was minimal on Day 3, which make my meals obviously more enjoyable. I was so happy to not have to make dinner on Day 3 since I made the Kale Salad the night prior which was an enormous portion. So I ate the second portion of the salad for dinner & followed with some Hibiscus tea later on, closer to bed.
What I ate on Day 3
- 32 oz of water with an entire lemon squeezed in
- 24 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- Spinach Soup with cucumber noodles
- One apple
- Kale Salad – 1 serving
- 16 oz of water
- Hibiscus Tea with a tsp of honey

Days Four – Six
The only main difference between the first three days & the next set of three days is the amount of celery juice consumed. Instead of doing the 24 oz just in the morning after the lemon or lime water, days four through six call for 32 oz in the morning after the water & another 32 oz in the later afternoon after lunch. I don’t mind the taste of celery juice, I actually like it quite a bit but this is a lot of celery. For me, filling a big mason jar of 32 oz of celery juice meant juicing two entire bunches of celery each time. So I went through four celery bunches each day.
Day 4 Recap
I woke up on Day 4 feeling really good. The skin on my left hand seemed calmer & I didn’t have an itching episode during the night, which is always a win in my book. I started my day with a meditation while I drank my lemon water. Overall, my energy levels have been surprising! I have much more energy than I thought I would so far! With that said, per the Medical Medium’s suggestion, I decided to take it easy this weekend & didn’t go to my usual Saturday yoga class.
Instead I opted for thirty minutes of stretching at home. In the Cleanse to Heal book, it says that doing a cleanse in general may spark an interest in working out, moving your body, doing a sauna session, etc. but in this specific cleanse, it’s important to not do anything you wouldn’t normally do. You want to allow your body time, energy, & space to heal. No need for over exertion, because your body is already working hard.
For my Day 4 dinner, I tried a new dinner recipe, the Cauliflower & Greens. Oh my gosh, it was delicious!! Instead of eating it as a salad, I made little lettuce boats with my butter lettuce & ate the cauliflower mixture that way. I ended up having 8 cauliflower lettuce wraps. For me this recipe was a 10/10. Similar to the kale salad, the recipe made a large portion, so I was able to save some for my Day 5 dinner.
What I ate on Day 4
- 32 oz of water with an entire lemon squeezed in
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- 12 oz of water
- One apple
- The Medical Medium Liver Rescue Smoothie
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- Cauliflower & Greens
- 32 oz of lime water

Day 5 Recap
Again, I woke up on Day 5 feeling really good. Solid energy, clear mind, very minimal cravings. I’ve been quite surprised in how smoothly things have gone so far. I honestly expected it to be immensely difficult to get through the nine days. Five days in & I’m feeling great. I’m already starting to think about when I’ll be able to repeat this 369 cleanse!
I’ve also done a good job of spacing out my meals & beverages, which leaves little time to be hungry. When I do feel hungry, it’s pretty much time to have my next meal, snack, or drink.
However, I was hit with the intense bloat later on in the day after drinking my second 32 oz of pure celery juice. Most often Medical Medium cleanses help to alleviate bloating, so if you do experience bloat like I did, it can be an indication of unproductive bacteria in the gut dying off. Bloating during the cleanse could also be a result of the liver purging toxins, which can have an inflammatory effect on your intestinal tract on their way out. Since during my everyday life, I don’t experience daily bloating anymore (it’s a feeling I do NOT miss), I believe it was due to one or both side effects I mentioned. Essentially my body’s way of getting rid of toxins.
With that said, being bloated really feels awful. It made it quite difficult to be excited to eat dinner on Day 5, so I ended up just having the little leftovers that I had from my Day 4 Cauliflower & Greens dinner. I was also a little behind on my water intake during the second half of this day due to the bloat, but I was able to stomach some hibiscus tea with honey in the late evening.
What I ate on Day 5
- 32 oz of water with an entire lemon squeezed in
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- 16 oz of water
- One apple
- Spinach Smoothie with cucumber noodles
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- Cauliflower & greens
- Hibiscus Tea with a tsp of honey

Day 6 Recap
Thankfully, when I woke up, my uncomfortable bloat from the night before was gone. Overall, I felt much better during this day, bloat wise. My energy was still strong & I had zero sugar cravings which I realized as I walked through Whole Foods to do a produce restock & was seeing & smelling all of the things!
Days 6 & 7 of the cleanse were almost identical for me. Although I did realize that I incorporated the second 32 oz of celery juice a few days early (which is totally fine), so I made that adjustment, which you see when I list out what I ate.
What I ate on Day 6
- 32 oz of water with an entire lemon squeezed in
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- The Medical Medium Liver Rescue Smoothie
- 32 oz of water
- Cauliflower & greens over romaine lettuce
- 16 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey

Day 7 Recap
So far, my favorite dinner option has been the Cauliflower & greens! Typically I really don’t care for raw cauliflower, so much to my surprise, this became a go-to staple as I completed my final days of the 369 cleanse! I will say adding in the dates made it much more enjoyable.
What I ate on Day 7
- 32 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- The Medical Medium Liver Rescue Smoothie
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- Cauliflower & greens over romaine lettuce
- 16 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey

Day 8 Recap
By Day 8 of my cleanse, I felt SO proud to be nearing the end. Overall, I felt amazing. The only side effects I experienced up until this point was uncomfortable bloat & I definitely noticed that my skin was purging. But honestly I expected worse.
For my Day 8 dinner I decided to try a new dinner recipe, the Leafy Green Nori Rolls & WOW, they were amazing! The only substitution I made was subbing out the tomato for a date. Since the other dinner options incorporated dates, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to also include them in my Nori Rolls.
I found Nori Rolls at Whole Foods without any oils, salt, or additives, so that’s what I used. This recipe has already been a staple for me moving forward because I enjoyed it so much. It was my go-to lunch choice for transitioning out of the 369 cleanse as well.
What I ate on Day 8
- 32 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie
- 16 oz of water
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- Leafy Green Nori Rolls
- 16 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey

Day 9 Recap
I was slightly nervous going into Day 9 because it’s all liquid & juices. No solid food as you can see from the list below. And not only that, but I definitely had a busy day, which the Medical Medium doesn’t recommend, especially on the last day of the cleanse. By early-afternoon, my stomach was HUGE & I was painfully bloated again. Definitely a little constipated as well because I wasn’t at home for a large majority of the morning/afternoon.
However, I still had energy & my mind felt clear. I honestly wasn’t even hungry for solid food, which I expected to be. I was able to complete a 45 minute vinyasa yoga class & then had 2 hours of Yoga Teacher Training late in the day & still felt good. Minus the bloat, which had subsided a bit throughout the rest of the day but it still was pretty uncomfortable.
By the end of the day, after drinking my second cucumber apple juice & water, I was stuffed.
What I ATE on Day 9
- 32 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- 16 oz of cucumber apple juice
- 16 oz of cold pressed orange juice
- 32 oz of watermelon juice
- 16 oz of cold pressed orange juice
- 32 oz of pure celery juice
- 16 oz of cucumber apple juice
- 16 oz of lemon water with a tsp of honey

369 Cleanse Conclusion
I am so happy I finally took the time to complete the Medical Medium 369 Cleanse. The healing I’ve experience with my left hand has been life changing over the months following the completion of the cleanse. That was my main goal for doing the cleanse & although it’s not healed completely, it’s a night & day difference.
I would highly recommend exploring Medical Medium cleanse protocols for anyone feeling hopeless within their healing journey. The cleanse isn’t easy however, it is only 9 days & it is doable. Healing is a commitment & that’s exactly what the Medical Medium cleanse is. It takes commitment.
Although I mentioned that my grocery bills were high while completing my 369 cleanse, this cleanse is extremely affordable compared to other ways I’ve tried to treat my eczema, so it was 100% worth it. The only thing you have to buy, outside of groceries, is the Cleanse to Heal book. Having a physically copy of the book in front of you while you’re cleansing is crucial in my opinion, because it truly has everything you need.
Have you ever completed a Medical Medium Cleanse?
If so, leave a comment below! I’d love to hear your experience!

Hi! I recently came across your posts on Dyshidrotic eczema, a friend passed them on. It’s been comforting to hear your experience and to know I’m not alone. It started creeping up on me in December and I had no idea what it is. I’m still suffering terribly and have started working with a naturopath. I’m on supplements & have omited my sensitivities… I’m seeing an allergist next week, and waiting to get into a dermatologist which can take months and months in BC, Canada.
Curious to hear how quickly you noticed improvement after completing the cleanse? And has it ever gotten worse before better? Every time I have a big flare I want to just give up on what I’ve been doing and become so frustrated.
Hi Kathleen! I am so sorry that you too have struggled with Dyshidrotic. After dealing with it for over 2 years & trying a variety of things to help it, I understand your frustration more than you know! I did have a small flare while completing the cleanse however, I haven’t had one since! It was tremendously for my healing & my eczema is essentially gone now!
Hello, congratulations with the cleanse!! I’m on my 369 second cleanse at the moment, day 7. It was really supportive for me to read about your experience. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! I’m doing 2×32 oz celery juice on days 7&8, as it is in the programme guidelines. And it is a big challenge for me personally to tolerate that second jar of celery juice. I started doing the cleanse because of my eczema flare up and my hand healed perfectly fast.
Ahh I got chills reading this!! I’m so happy the cleanse has helped your eczema!! Congrats on staying strong & completing it! xo
Ho Maddi,
I am on day6 of my 369cleanse and my skin id definitely flairing. I have had to ignore my sensitivities diagnosed by kinesiology in order to follow the cleanse and am mot sure if that isn’t making my eczema worse?
I had a very bad nighssleep last night and am feeling despondent about my healing.
Hi Sarah, I’m so sorry your skin is flaring. I know the cleanse has a variety of modifications, have you looked into those? Wishing you all the best!
Your blog has truly inspired me to do this cleanse, I’m now on day 8 of the advanced. I’ve had Dyshidrotic eczema with no break for 3 years now, and am finally at the point of surrender and doing something serious about it.
With that said, I am curious to know about what you did after the 9 days. Did you continue another 9? Did you follow any certain diet? And how long did it take after the cleanse to see your hands full heal? I’m on day 8 like I said and will definitely be cycling back in to days 7,8,9 because I haven’t seen enough healing on my hands. It’s leaving me worried that I have to do this forever which is why I’m looking for personal experience.
Thanks in advance for all you put in to in sharing your story. Xx
Hi Dakota! Thank you for reading! Don’t feel discouraged while cleansing! I too didn’t notice much improvement while actually on the cleanse! What the cleanse is doing is clearing out years of built up toxins. Following the cleanse, I continued with my normal diet, which is gluten free & dairy free, I also continued avoiding the food triggers for my eczema, which I found out by doing a food allergy blood test. Mine were peanuts, almonds, sesame, & eggs. The only Medical Medium protocols I do while not cleansing is I often drink the Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie & Liver Rescue Smoothie! I started to notice significant improvement about a month after cleansing!
