Lawless Beauty… a clean beauty brand that doesn’t sacrifice performance for ingredients. Reviewing “Woke Up Like This” foundation & “Seal the Deal” talc-free setting powder.
Today I wanted to share two of my new favorite makeup products from the Lawless Beauty brand. If you are familiar with my blog, you KNOW that I love Lawless, but if you are new here, Lawless is a clean beauty brand that will give you exactly what you want in a clean product, while not sacrificing performance!
With so many chemicals found within our beauty products these days, I am constantly searching for new products that are clean but also ones that WORK. There is nothing worse than spending money on items that are lack-luster in performance. With that said, not every makeup product of mine is considered “clean” & I’m okay with that. Makeup is expensive & I’m just not going to throw everything away. Yes, I probably won’t re-purchase specific items, but I do not wear makeup everyday, so it’s not my main concern in life, if you what I’m sayin.
With newer makeup product purchases of mine, I have noticed that I do gravitate towards finding products that are considered cleaner on average. There are so many clean beauty brands that are growing & expanding their product lines, which is so exciting to see. I think clean beauty will gain even more traction within the next few years.
Lawless Beauty is a clean brand I found in November of 2017…right before their launch. And ever since, I’ve been obsessed. Everything regarding the brand is top notch. The founder, Annie Lawless is SUCH an inspiration. She has built two successful businesses (Suja Juice & Lawless), & I find her creativity, drive, & passion to be so inspiring. You can read more about her story in my last Lawless post where I talked about the first launched product from Lawless…soft matte liquid lipsticks.
Since the first launch, Lawless Beauty has expanded their product line to now offer a Flawless Finish Foundation, Translucent Talc-Free Loose Setting Powders, & a 18 shade Eyeshadow Palette, as well as, liquid lipsticks. I have yet to get the Eyeshadow Palette, called “The One” but I now have the foundation, setting powder, & have tried 4 of the lipsticks.
“My mission is to create beautifully packaged, highly pigmented, long-wearing, natural makeup, with clean, non-toxic ingredients, that feels sexy, chic, & anything but natural.” – Annie Lawless
Lawless Beauty also has amazing deals & sales throughout the year. They had a great Black Friday Sale & Buy One Get One deals that occur quite frequently. I follow Annie Lawless on IG (@annielawless), so I stay updated on sales going on with Lawless. I purchased the foundation & setting powder a while back during her flash Labor Day sale. So I have had these babies for quite a while!
I like to get every penny out of the products I use, so I used up my previous foundation to the very last drop before breaking out these beautiful Lawless Beauty products. I started using them in November. Since I want this blog to be extremely authentic & real, I wanted to make sure I really loved the products before dedicating an entire post to them.
But both products are amazing.
Such high quality. Beautiful branding. Amazing formulas. Long lasting. Just perfect.
This is my new favorite foundation. I’m really picky when it comes to foundations. I’ve only used two foundations within the last like three years, one powder & one liquid formula. I really have to love something before I buy it, so I really went out on a limb buying this foundation without seeing or testing it out in person.
Lawless Beauty has 20 shades for the “Woke Up Like This” foundation line. I ended going with shade “Kalahari” which is a light shade with neutral undertones. What I really like about the descriptions for the foundation is that each shade is associated with a different undertone. This can be extremely important when trying to find the best shade for your skin. I have been told that I don’t have yellow undertones in my skin…if anything I have just a little pink, but I ultimately ended up going with the neutral undertone shade. I’m glad I did…I think it’s a really nice match for my skin.
The formula of the foundation is definitely full coverage.
Although it’s full coverage, I don’t feel like the foundation is caked on my face. My skin still feels breathable. The beautiful foundation bottle also has a pump so you can kind of control how much product you want to apply. I usually stick to one pump.
My skin gets insanely dry in the winter, so I have to take extra measures to make sure everything is hydrated, especially when I wear makeup. To do so, I like mixing a drop of my rose hip oil in with the pump of foundation. I blend the two together before applying it to my skin with a damp beauty blender! This foundation is dewy, but I prefer the extra hydration that the oil provides in order to avoid areas of my face drying out or flaking.
To achieve a fuller coverage look, you can use 2-3 pumps of the foundation. Annie recommends letting the first layer dry before adding additional layers. The drying time of the foundation is not instant. This is due to the non-toxicity of the product & only takes about 30-40 seconds to dry.
And I just have to mention this foundation has the most beautiful, subtle aroma. The smell isn’t long lasting, but I can definitely smell it when I’m applying. It’s just lovely.
After my “Woke Up Like This” foundation dries, I then go in with my concealers, & then my Lawless Beauty translucent powder.
It can be pretty challenging to find a powder without talc. Talc is added to powders & in some cases, it contains a carcinogen called asbestos that can be linked to different forms of cancer. Lawless formulas without talc, which is awesome.
Personally, I was very excited to try this translucent powder. The “Seal The Deal” loose setting powders come in three shades. Classic, which is colorless…perfect for all skin tones, Brightening, a light peachy pink…perfect for correcting & brightening, & Golden…perfect for medium to deep skin tones & can also be used as a bronzer!
I went with the Classic shade, but I will definitely be trying out the two additional shades as well.
Now you use this “Seal The Deal” setting powder as you would any translucent powder. You can take a fluffy brush into the powder, tap off the excess & sweep the brush across your face setting the base of your makeup. You can also use it to “bake” by applying it under the eyes, on the cheekbones, or the T-Zone with a damp beauty blender. After you “bake” for 5-10 minutes, lightly brush off the remaining powder. This is a great technique to do if you are applying a lot of eye makeup. It will help catch any eyeshadow fallout.
I go back & forth with how I apply this translucent powder. I usually just apply it with a medium fluffy brush after I do my foundation, color correcting, & concealing…focusing in on my under eyes, forehead, & chin. Some days I “bake” but definitely not every day.
I like using this loose powder because it helps your makeup stay in place longer. For me especially, as someone with dark circles, it also helps my concealers stay in place & helps prevent cracking. If you tend to get oily throughout the day, a setting powder like this would be wonderful for you as well!
Both “Seal The Deal” & the “Woke Up Like This” foundation will definitely be repurchases for me. Lawless Beauty really outdid themselves with the creation of these two products. As I said, I’m looking forward to trying the two additional shades of setting powders & I may try a new shade of foundation in the summer when I’m not so pasty. But I’m currently thrilled with what I have from Lawless ATM.
There is nothing better than finding a brand that you not only identify with, but also trust.
I fully trust that by using products from Lawless Beauty I don’t have to wonder or worry what I’m putting on my face. The face absorbs so many chemicals throughout our lifetime. If you want to check out the entire list of harmful ingredients that are NOT in products from Lawless Beauty, you can read more about it on the Lawless website. It’s overwhelming to think of it all at once, but all it takes is making small changes here & there.
Have you tried anything from Lawless?
