This post will break down the specifics of the Beautycounter Compensation Plan, aka how to make money as a Beautycounter Brand Advocate in 2023.
I want to share some behind the scenes info about being a Beautycounter Brand Advocate for anyone who may be on the fence! I decided to link arms with Beautycounter 4 years ago & it was one of the best personal & professional decisions I’ve made in my life! The Beautycounter business opportunity incorporates many incredible aspects, such as a strong mission, advocacy work, high performing products, & a tremendous community of like minded women. However, another huge piece is the potential to earn an income. So throughout this post, I will be sharing exactly how to make money as a Beautycounter Brand Advocate!
When I was introduced to Beautycounter, I was immediately interested in the products. As I began to learn more about the brand, I was so impressed by what they were doing to champion the clean beauty movement. They banned harmful ingredients, go above & beyond when it comes to safety standards, & they work directly with Congress to move forward legislation. The potential to earn an income for me was honestly at the bottom of my list. I had very little expectations but I did like the idea that I could work this business from anywhere.
Flash forward to now, after a lot of hard work, commitment, & consistency, Beautycounter is my main source of income. Not only that, but this work inspires me in more ways that I ever knew was possible. While Beautycounter isn’t the answer for everyone, it was an answer for me & this post will share why!
How Much Do Beautycounter Brand Advocates Make?
Beautycounter is an effort based business that features a generous commission structure for those working it as a business. What I mean by an effort based business is that you will get what you put in. There is no one size fits all when it comes to working a business with Beautycounter. This is why average earnings & income vary significantly! Many women become Advocates just to enjoy the discount, some treat Beautycounter as a hobby, many work Beautycounter alongside very full lives & full time jobs, & others, like myself, work Beautycounter full-time.
At the end of 2022, Beautycounter had over 44,000 Brand Advocates in the United States & Canada. The average Beautycounter Brand Advocate made $1,878 USD in 2022. However, that amount includes ALL Brand Advocates including over 13,000 people who had no sales & therefore earned no commissions. It also includes Brand Advocates who enrolled later in the year & had as few as one month of earnings. Beautycounter Compensation Plan
Below I share the specifics of how to make money with Beautycounter’s compensation plan. To summarize, you can earn income two ways, through selling Beautycounter products to clients & building a team!
Selling Products to Clients
The main way the vast majority of Beautycounter Brand Advocates earn income is through selling products to clients. Brand Advocates earn between 25-35% in personal commissions based on how much they sell within a calendar month.
As a Brand Advocate, you don’t have to sell a certain amount in order to start making commission. The average Beautycounter order is $125 US. If you have someone shop & spend $125, you would make $31.25 in personal commission (25%). However, as you sell more, you will earn a higher commission.
The first Personal Sales Bonus unlocks once a Brand Advocate sells $750 in a calendar month. If a Brand Advocate sells $750+ in a calendar month, they will unlock 30% commission on all orders. If they sell $1,500+ in a calendar month, they will unlock 32% commission on all orders. And if a Brand Advocate sells $3,000+ in a calendar month, they will unlock 35% commission on all orders. This 35% commission guarantees the Advocate a minimum of $1,050 in personal commissions for the month.
Mentoring a Team
Let me preface this by saying, Beautycounter does NOT require you to recruit or mentor a team. You can make a great paycheck just based on your own sales. However, if you choose to grow a team, you can earn override commissions for mentoring & coaching. As someone with a large team, this is incredibly helpful because it does take a lot of time & effort to help others grow a business. I support people 1:1, host trainings & meetings, offer group coaching, organize events, answer questions, & more on a daily basis. It feels good knowing I can be compensated for pouring into the women I work with.
Brand Advocates can begin to earn 5% on their team & that can grow up to 13% based on rank advancements & titles within the compensation plan. I cannot speak to other Direct Sales companies, but if you choose to grow a team with Beautycounter, you are only paid on three levels beneath you, making it extremely fair.
Developing Leaders
As you work your business & become a leader within Beautycounter, you are able to earn additional override commissions when your downline team members promote to high leadership titles. These overrides kick in once you have a teammate promote to Director or above!
These are the Beautycounter Brand Advocate Rank Titles:
- Consultant
- Senior Consultant
- Manager
- Senior Manager
- Director
- Senior Director
- Executive Director
- Managing Director

Beautycounter Consultant Perks
Personal Development
Our inside joke within the Brand Advocate community is that Beautycounter is essentially “personal development with a paycheck” & it is SO true. One thing successful Brand Advocates have in common is the ability to get uncomfortable. In order to grow a business, you must step outside of your comfort zone. I can honestly say that I don’t recognize the person I was when I first started my Beautycounter business in the best way possible.
Community Support
Even though you’re in business by yourself, you’re never alone! Immediately after you start your business, you will have access to virtual & live trainings on selling, mentorship, advocacy, & much more! In addition to team support! I can’t speak for all Beautycounter teams, but the women that I work with & personally mentor have an abundance of team support & resources to lean on as well!
Skill Building
As a Brand Advocate, you will have on-going opportunities to collaborate with others, influence, learn, & grow! One of the biggest skills that I’ve fine tuned over the past few years is public speaking! For as long as I can remember, I was petrified of public speaking. Through my work with Beautycounter, I’ve been able to awaken a huge sense of confidence regarding public speaking as a result of doing countless trainings & coaching. Most recently, I spoke on stage at our annual LEAD conference! You can see the photo below!
Selling Commissions
All Brand Advocates have the opportunity to earn generous selling commissions that range from a minimum of 25% up to 35% on products sold to customers. Even if you don’t have a team, you can still earn a great paycheck based on your sales alone. To offer additional perspective here as someone who has worked with a variety of affiliate opportunities, 25-35% commission is extremely rare. Most companies offer anywhere between 5%-20% commission. Beautycounter’s commission structure is very generous. For example, if you have a friend who purchases the Beautycounter shampoo from your unique link, you will earn a minimum of 25% commission on that shampoo!
Exclusive Product Access
Brand Advocates can enjoy a 25% discount on most items & can unlock steeper savings by shopping presales, which happen before a new product launches! Brand Advocates also get to enjoy free & half off products by working their business & hosting parties either online or in person.
Incentives & Bonuses
Almost every month Brand Advocates have the opportunity to earn special incentives on top of getting paid. This is one of my favorite parts because I love earning free things! Beautycounter offers many incentives such as free products, swag, gifts, product credit, & cash bonuses. Brand Advocates must be actively working their business in order to earn incentives & bonuses.
Trips
Finally, incentive trips are a HUGE perk that Brand Advocates can enjoy! Since I started my business, I’ve earned every trip Beautycounter has offered & not only has it grown my business, but each trip has provided me with incredible memories with some of my dearest friends! For example, you can read all about my advocacy trip to DC in this post! While it’s very challenging to earn a trip with Beautycounter, it’s extremely worth it! So far, I’ve earned trips to Washington DC, Scottsdale, LA, Puerto Rico, & Banff!

Beautycounter Business FAQs
How much does it cost to sign up?
It costs $50 to start a Beautycounter business!
Are you required to spend a certain amount when you sign up?
Nope! As a Beautycounter Brand Advocate, you are never required to purchase products. However, I would absolutely recommend getting started with products especially if you’ve never tried the brand. As soon as you go to enroll, you will unlock the Brand Advocate discount & you will also have access to kits up to 47% off!
Are there monthly or annual fees?
There are not any monthly fees associated with working your business. There is an annual website renewal fee of $50 that you must pay if you want to continue being a Brand Advocate.
Are there any sales quotas?
Yes. All Brand Advocates are required to sell products to Clients & Band of Beauty Members in order to maintain an active account. Beautycounter requires at least 750 QV (1 QV point is typically earned for each dollar of product sold, excluding shipping, handling, tax, & discounts) in sales every 6 months. Anything that you personally purchase as a Brand Advocate within each 6 month period is also included in that 750 QV requirement.
Is Beautycounter a pyramid scheme?
Absolutely not. Pyramid schemes are illegal. Beautycounter is a direct to consumer, B Corporation!
How do you acquire customers?
I acquire the majority of my customers online through social media (primarily Instagram) & my blog! I have personally chosen to work my business online because that works best for me. But I also have some family & friends that have become big Beautycounter fans & love supporting my business as well!
The beauty of working a Beautycounter business is the fact that it truly can look different for everyone. Some Brand Advocates actively work their business online & in person. Some exclusively work in person. And some primarily work online, while others are content simply sharing their link with close friends & family.
Acquiring customers can be as easy as sharing skincare samples with a neighbor, posting a makeup tutorial on Instagram, getting a few friends together for a spa night, or educating your friend on why it’s important for her to use Beautycounter sunscreen on her kids instead of chemical SPF! These are all things I help my team with!
Do you need to have sales experience to do well?
I can absolutely speak from experience when I say that you do not need to have experience in sales to do well in Beautycounter. I had zero sales experience prior to starting my business & was able to become a very strong seller.
What happens if it isn’t for me?
Nothing bad will happen if you decide being a Beautycounter Brand Advocate isn’t for you! Anyone can work a Beautycounter business. But it’s definitely not for everyone & that is totally okay! If you decide that you no longer want to be a Brand Advocate or if you don’t hit your 6 month QV requirement, you will be gifted a Band of Beauty Membership. As a Band of Beauty Member, you can enjoy free shipping & will earn 10% back in product credit every time you shop for the next year. Within that year, if you decide you’d like to restart your business, you can join for just $21 instead of $50.
How do I work with you?
If you are interested in getting started as a Beautycounter Brand Advocate, you can go ahead & join HERE! To ensure you are on my team, you will want to select me, Madi Rowan, as your mentor. Having a good mentor is very important. I can’t tell you how many times I have Brand Advocates who are not on my team, ask if they can switch mentors. I work really hard to ensure the women on my team are well supported within their businesses.
If you have any additional questions before getting started, please email me at rowanmadi@gmail.com. I’ll get back to you within 24 hours! Or you can send me a DM on IG – you can find me @madi_rowan!
If you already love Beautycounter or are looking for a way to earn additional income, becoming a Brand Advocate may be a natural next step! I’m grateful every single day that I decided to start my business. Four years later, my life has completely changed for the better. Additionally, I’ve been able to help hundreds of women make the switch to safer products.
Working with Beautycounter is extremely rewarding. My favorite part is the fact that Beautycounter provides so many women, including myself, the opportunity to earn an income while making a difference. I truly couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
