I have been using Beautycounter skincare for over 4 years & my skin has truly never looked better. In case you’re new here, Beautycounter is a luxury clean beauty brand that formulates high performing clean products without sacrificing safety.
Every single one of their products is formulated without the use of over 2,800 harmful or questionable ingredients, in addition to undergoing strict 3rd party testing for any contaminants. If you’ve ever browsed the Beautycounter website, you’ll notice that they have a vast assortment of skincare products for all different skin types. Today I’m going to be sharing my honest review of the Beautycounter Countertime line, which is specifically designed for anti-aging!
Beautycounter Countertime Review
Beautycounter has three complete skincare lines: Countercontrol, Countermatch, & Countertime. The Countertime Collection is specifically designed for anyone who has dry or aging skin. Even though I wouldn’t describe my skin as mature or necessarily “aging”, I DO want to support healthy anti-aging & reduce the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles as I’m approaching 30. So if that’s you too, you can also benefit from incorporating these potent products into your routine.
Countertime features an innovative, plant derived Retinatural™ Complex which is Beautycounter’s safer version of retinol. Retinol is actually on Beautycounter’s Never List, meaning it’s not an ingredient they ever formulate with. This Retinatural™ Complex is designed to work like retinol, by visibly firming, brightening, & plumping the skin, minus the potent side effects that using retinol might cause. Like all Beautycounter’s products, when you use the Countertime line, you don’t have to sacrifice safety for results.
Beautycounter created their effective Retinatural™ Complex by combining two of the most powerhouse plant-derived ingredients, Bakuchiol & Swiss Alpine Rose. Bakuchiol has been used in traditional Chinese & Ayurvedic skincare remedies for centuries & is what mimics retinol. And then the Swiss Alpine Rose is renowned for its remarkable ability to protect itself against dehydration & other environmental stressers at the highest altitudes of the Swiss Alps. So while the Bakuchiol is giving your skin the anti-aging benefits, the Swiss Alpine Rose is boosting your skin’s antioxidant defense.
Beautycounter Countertime Collection
So as I’ve now shared, Countertime is a line specifically formulated to target the signs of aging. The products are sold individually, as well as in a regimen & collection. The Countertime Regimen includes a 4-step skincare routine that includes a cleanse, prep, treat, & protect step. In the regimen, there are two products for the protect step, so that you have an AM moisturizer & a PM moisturizer that will offer your skin more hydration. The Countertime Collection includes the same products as the regimen, in addition to the Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream.
The Countertime products work best when used consistently morning & night as a complete regimen. Below is a breakdown of the six products featured within the regimen & collection.
Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil
This luxurious, lightweight Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil was inspired by Asian beauty rituals & has a light scent of rose & geranium. In Asian cultures, oil cleansing is very popular because it allows you to deeply cleanse the skin without damage. Oil cleansers are able to effectively remove makeup & impurities without stripping away essential lipids from the skin. Therefore, protecting the skin’s moisture barrier! This specific Cleansing Oil also features Beautycounter’s plant-derived Retinatural™ Complex & is rich in vitamin E, as well as, fatty acids. Due to such nourishing ingredients, this cleanser will leave your skin soft, smooth, & hydrated.
This Cleansing Oil comes in a beautiful glass bottle & it’s huge. This is not a product you’ll go through in a month. My last Cleansing Oil lasted me almost 7 months with daily use. To best use this oil cleanser, I’d suggest dispensing 1-2 pumps of the product into your hands & massage the oil onto your dry face & eye area to lift up your makeup. Next, add warm water to form a light milk, then cleanse your skin clean!
Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence
Think of this Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence as you would a toner but more beneficial! This Essence is lightweight but deeply nourishing. It has a milky consistency that will deliver vital nutrients to your skin’s moisture barrier after you cleanse & before you apply your serums to instantly boost your overall hydration & radiance. Similar to the Cleansing Oil, the Hydrating Essence also has a light scent of rose & geranium.
I think an essence or toner is one of the most underrated aspects of a good skincare routine. Incorporating this Essence will really help to renew & balance your complexion while creating a supple canvas for your treatment step that will follow. I talked more about this in my How to Layer Skincare post! This Hydrating Essence is also formulated with Beautycounter’s Retinatural™ Complex, as well as, mineral-rich sea water, & a fermented blend of sugars to help soothe skin & slow the effects of aging by optimizing hydration. Amazing, right?!
Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum
This Tripeptide Radiance Serum is one of my very favorite Beautycounter products. It’s also one of the most purchased & re-purchased products by my clients. For anyone who is looking for a safer anti-aging serum, look no further. In Beautycounter world, we even call this serum “clean botox in a bottle” because it really works!
With consistent use, this transformative serum will visibly increase your overall skin firmness & elasticity, while also reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles. This serum is so effective due to potent ingredients like a powerful blend of peptides, amino acids, & of course, Beautycounter’s Retinatural™ Complex, which is our safer version of retinol. The Retinatural™ Complex features Bakuchiol which has been shown to provide skincare results that are comparable to retinol, minus the harmful side effects.
Adding this serum into my AM & PM routine has been the biggest game changer. Not only will it support healthy aging, but it is clinically proven to increase the overall luminosity of your skin, hence the name – Tripeptide Radiance Serum. When it comes to incorporating this potent serum into your skincare routine, I’d suggest dispensing 1 pump of the serum into your hand & applying it onto your face, neck, & décolletage with upward strokes. For best results, use this serum morning & night.
Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream
This award-winning Antioxidant Soft Cream is best described as a velvety, revitalizing moisturizer that will work to visibly plump & firm your skin. It will also boost hydration & protect your skin from drying environmental stressors throughout the day. After applying this cream, you’ll notice that your skin is left looking so healthy & glowing. It’s formulated with the Retinatural™ Complex & Nasturtium flower extract which helps to reinforce the skin barrier. This provides potent oxygenation benefits to protect your skin & help it maintain its moisture throughout the day. If you have mature or dry skin, this will be a fantastic option for you!
This Antioxidant Soft Cream is designed to be an AM moisturizer. However you can use it at night too. Countertime does have a specific night cream that I share below. But if you only want one moisturizer, you can use this in both routines. Following your serum, you’ll want to dispense 1-2 pumps of this cream into your hand & apply onto your face, neck & décolletage with upward strokes. Apply daily!
Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream
This Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream is another best seller among my clients & a personal favorite. It is SO luxurious & supremely rich. Even just looking at it, you can tell it provides deep hydration! You can flip the jar upside down & the formula won’t budge, it is THICK! This Supreme Cream will help support overall skin elasticity, will visibly firm your skin, while also smoothing your skin texture which minimizes the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.
Due to the thickness of the formula, this Supreme Cream is designed to be a PM moisturizer because our skin loses more moisture when we sleep. With continued use, you’ll notice that you’ll wake up to a more radiant & youthful complexion thanks to Retinatural™ Complex & Tetrapeptides which packs a powerful punch when it comes to non-toxic anti-aging support.
To use this night cream, you’ll want to scoop a small amount onto your fingertips. Massage gently into your face, neck, & décolletage with upward strokes. Use nightly following your serum, as well as during the day if extra hydration is needed.
Countertime Ultra Renewal Eye Cream
I watched my under eyes transform after incorporating this Ultra Renewal Eye Cream. It’s award-winning & it features a targeting combination of the plant-derived Retinatural™ Complex & Persian silk tree extract which helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles & crow’s feet for a smooth & firm look. As someone who has always had dark circles, I can 100% say this eye cream has helped the appearance of them significantly. See my before & after picture below. This high-performing eye cream is also deeply hydrating. So if you struggle with dry under eyes, especially under your makeup, incorporating this into your routine will make a huge difference.
To apply this eye cream, pick up some product with your ring finger & gently pat around the eye area until the product is full absorbed. For best results, use morning & night as the last step in your skincare routine.
Beautycounter Countertime Before & After
When I started using Beautycounter in August of 2019, I was actually embarrassed of my bare skin. I had been struggling for years with acne, my skin was so dry. And even though I was 24, I felt like my skin looked much older than I actually was. Below you’ll see the powerful results of using effective skincare without any toxic ingredients. Four years later, my skin is vibrant, hydrated, and clear. Although I do have some fine lines, their overall appearance has reduced. I exclusively use Beautycounter skincare & couldn’t be happier with my results.

How to Use Beautycounter’s Countertime Regimen
As with any skincare regimen, you’ll want to use the Countertime line consistently every morning & night in order to achieve maximum results. Our skin cell turn over rate is about every 28-40 days. So in order to see results, you have to be consistent! I usually say the sweet spot with skincare & seeing results is around 8 weeks. I also want to mention that Countertime is a clinically proven skincare line. So you will see results if you’re consistent!
The Countertime regimen includes a 4-step process that includes a cleanse, prep, treat, & protect step. You’ll notice that there are two options for the protect step, one moisturizer for morning & one for night.
Cleanse
Dispense 1-2 pumps of the Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil (AM/PM) into your hands & massage the oil onto your dry face & eye area to lift up your makeup. Next, add warm water to form a light milk, then cleanse your skin clean!
Prep
Shake a quarter-size amount of the Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence (AM/PM) into the palm of your hand & gently press it onto your face & neck.
Treat
Dispense 1-2 pumps of the Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum (AM/PM) into your hand & apply it onto your face, neck, & décolletage with upward strokes.
Protect
Dispense 1-2 pumps of the Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream (AM) into your hand & apply onto your face, neck & décolletage with upward strokes.
or
Scoop a small amount of the Countertime Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream (PM) onto your fingertips & massage gently into your face, neck, & décolletage with upward strokes.
Other Products to Use with the Countertime Regimen
Three products that I’d recommend pairing with the Countertime Regimen would be the Overnight Resurfacing Peel, the All Bright C Serum, & or the Daily Sheer Defense Facial Sunscreen.
The Overnight Resurfacing Peel is a great treatment product to incorporate into your PM regimen. You would use it in place of the Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum as your treat step every other night. Follow with the Supreme Cream. The Overnight Peel works to exfoliate your skin at a cellular level to reveal a brighter, renewed complexion.
The All Bright C Serum is a fantastic product to incorporate into your AM regimen. I’d suggest layering the Vitamin C serum on top of the Tripeptide Radiance Serum in the morning. This will help to even & brighten your skin tone. The C Serum also stimulates collagen production & will give your skin the most beautiful glow!
Finally, I’d recommend wearing an SPF in your morning routine. My two suggestions would be the Daily Sheer Defense or Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Both of these Beautycounter sunscreen products are formulated with non-nano zinc oxide & blend in seamlessly.
