This Beautycounter body products review includes my thoughts on their best selling Melting Body Balm, Sugarbuff Body Polish, & Luminous Hydration Body Oil – all in gorgeous, upgraded packaging!
I haven’t shared barely any Beautycounter body products here on the blog yet but with their recent *stunning* packaging update, I figured now was the perfect time to do so! Beautycounter has some AMAZING bath & body products – they actually were the first products I tried from the brand back in 2017! They are luxurious, clean, effective, beautifully scented, & formulated without the use of over 1,800 harmful or questions ingredients!
Today, I’m going to be chatting about three Beautycounter body products that recently went through a major packaging upgrade, including the Melting Body Balm, the Sugarbuff Body Polish, & the Luminious Hydration Body Oil. These three products not only come in super chic pastel packaging, but they’re also some of the most popular products within Beautycounter’s bath & body collection! With that said, I’m excited to share a little more about each one! Because like our skincare & makeup, we deserve to feel good about the products we put onto our bodies too!
Beautycounter Body Products Review
Melting Body Balm
Melting Body Balm details:
If you’re already a fan of Beautycounter’s Melting Body Balm, don’t worry! The body balm formula or scent hasn’t changed…just the packaging got a major upgrade! Isn’t it beautiful?!
And for those who are not familiar with this Beautycounter best seller, it’s far more than your typical moisturizer. First of all, the scent of this balm is Monoi, which truly smells like a tropical vacation – it’s amazing. And secondly, this clean body balm features a luxurious, hydrating & softening blend of argon & avocado oils that work to magically transform into on oil as you apply & melt it onto your skin. After you apply, your skin is left with the most beautiful, healthy-looking glow.
Featured Ingredients:
- Argan & avocado oils: Help hydrate & condition skin
- Squalane butter: Derived from sugarcane, it melts on the skin upon application, & helps hydrate & soften skin
- Organic babassu (Orbignya oleifera) seed oil: Rich in essential fatty acids, it helps moisturize & condition skin
How to Use a Body Balm
To use this Melting Body Balm most effectively, you’ll want to massage it onto damp skin after getting out of the shower or bath to lock in moisture. You can also use it as a conditioning treatment for cuticles, elbows, knees, heels, or any other dry spots.

- During application, it transforms from a balm into an oil.
Sustainable Packaging
Beauytcounter has pretty hefty sustainability goals. By 2025 they are aiming to have 100% of their packaging recycled, recyclable, refillable, reused, or compostable. But anyways, back to the Melting Body Balm packaging! The pastel green tube is made with approximately 51% post-consumer recycled (you can read more abou PCR here) resin that comes from curbside recycling programs & other recycling programs. This is a huge step & something that I was super excited to learn about!
Body Balm vs. Body Lotion
To compare a body balm vs. body lotion, specifically speaking about Beautycounter’s Body Balm, it’s actually going to melt down on your skin like an oil when applied since it is primarily oil based. Body balms don’t contain water & are much thicker than your typical body lotion. Body lotions have water as one of their main ingredients & low oil content, which is why they don’t offer long-lasting hydration like a body balm.
I find that using this body balm really delivers nourishing & long-lasting hydration hours after application which isn’t something I usually notice when just using a lotion. If you do prefer a body lotion over a body balm, check out this Countermatch Body Lotion or Citrus Mimosa Body Butter!
Sugarbuff Body Polish
Sugarbuff Body Polish Details:
To kick things off, the Lemongrass scent of this Sugarbuff Body Polish is essentially what dreams are made of. It’s INCREDIBLE…I truly could sniff it all day haha! The scent is so revitalizing! So not only does it smell amazing, but body scrub products like this one specifically, are amazing at gently polishing away dull skin, which helps reveal a healthy-looking glow!
If you struggle with really dull looking skin on your body, I promise this is the best body scrub to remove those dead skin cells! The organic sugar granules in this body scrub are gentle enough to not strip or tear at your skin & ingredients like sweet almond oil, will keep your skin feeling hydrated & soft after use.
This scrub is an essential in my shower routine – I simply cannot shave without it (sharing more about this below). Also! Unlike other body scrubs on the market, this one doesn’t contain harsh exfoliants, nasty filler ingredients, or artificial fragrance!

- Sweet almond oil: Hydrates skin for a smooth, soft, & supple appearance

How to Use The Sugarbuff Body Polish
To use this Sugarbuff Body Polish, you’ll want to massage a small amount onto damp skin & pay close attention to any dry spots like elbows & knees! After massaging the polish onto your skin, you’ll want to thoroughly rinse the scrub off your skin. I do this whole process while in the shower. Using my fingers, I just take a small little scoop of the scrub, apply it to my skin.
I primarily use this scrub on my legs & sometimes I’ll apply it on my arms, armpits, & shoulder areas because it’s just so invigorating! My favorite way to use this clean body scrub is on my legs right before I shave. After I apply & rinse off the scrub, I apply my Smoothing Shave Cream & shave accordingly. The Body Polish acts as a natural exfoliant & really preps my skin well prior to shaving. Using this scrub consistently definitely helps me reduce the amount of ingrown hairs I get & shaving irritation that I’m quite prone to!
Also, just to note! Once rinsed, the sugar dissolves under water & doesn’t leave a mess on your skin OR in the shower!

Luminous Hydration Body Oil

Okay, to be completely honest, I had never used a body oil, prior to using a similar oil Beautycounter released within their 2020 Holiday Collection – you can check out my review of it here! But wow, using this oil truly is an experience! It’s the best clean body oil on the market, SO luxurious, as well as, being the best scented body oil too with a sophisticated & uplifting Citrus Rosemary scent.
This Luminious Hydration Body Oil is the best body oil for summer & for achieving that beautiful glowing skin that we’re all after! The silky formula of this oil is lightweight but insanely nourishing thanks to a blend of grapeseed, argan, rosehip, & passion fruit oils which are all AMAZING for hydration! Along with the packaging update, Beautycounter’s original body oil formula also went through a slight update too. It now is the same formula as the oil from Holiday 2020. How to Use This Body Oil

You can apply it all over your body & massage it into you skin until it’s well absorbed – your skin will feel & look AMAZING! For optimal results, apply after you take a shower or bath! I also love applying it after I shave my legs, it makes my skin so so smooth!
