I’m sharing a productivity method called 3 Things – focus on 3 things weekly to help bring upon feelings of accomplishment + a giveaway with AUrate jewelry!
Hi everyone!! Is anyone else in complete shock that tomorrow is August 1st?! Where did this summer go? AHH! Today’s post is a little different & I think I want to make it a consistent thing here on the blog, similar to my favorites posts – see this post, for an example! A few days ago, a favorite blogger of mine, Amber Fillerup, who runs the blog, Barefoot Blonde, mentioned a podcast that talked about this idea of choosing 3 things. So today, I wanted to share my 3 things, what this practice means to me, & potentially for you too!
Basically, when life gets busy, we can sometimes experience feelings of doubt, anxiety, discouragement, or lack of motivation when we try to think about or process ALL of the things we want or need to accomplish within a week. No matter who you are, there’s a lot of things that need taken care of.
I live each day through a list. I always always list out everything I need to get done each day, each week, & roughly each month. A list method works well for me, but sometimes there’s just SO much to be done in what feels like so little time.
So here’s where the 3 things come into play.
The idea of 3 things is to choose just 3 things that you want to focus your attention on for the week. For you, this might mean focusing on having more patience, to be a more attentive parent, spouse, or partner, it might mean making time to read, or putting forth an attempt to be more positive & implement less complaining, it might mean getting more sleep, making time for self-care, or working on a passion project of yours.
The 3 things will look different for everyone.
Once you choose your specific three things, you will be able to better focus your attention & care to successfully completing those three things instead of having a million things floating around your head or on your list. Three things is attainable – it won’t leave you feeling disappointed, down, or discouraged. Everyone is capable of putting energy into three things per week, or month, or however you want to do it!
MY 3 THINGS
1. Be present.
I have a lot to look forward to right now. My fiancรฉ is coming home from Australia tomorrow night after being away for 2.5 months & I get to go see my family next week, after not seeing them since March! I’m SO excited & grateful, but I never want to feel like I’m wishing away time. Every day is a gift & definitely not guaranteed. Throughout the next week, I want to remain present & soak in each day with Devin & my family…taking each day as it comes!
2. Make time for my creativity.
I have a lot on my plate & I don’t want to backtrack in regards to anything. It’s my goal to continue to make diligent time for my creativity. Creating makes me SO happy & it’s something that’s very important for the growth of this blog. Carving out time to create, edit, write, & do all the behind the scenes work is something that I need to continue to make time for each & every day.
3. Act with love.
I always try my best to act out of love & kindness, to everyone, even if I don’t know them. Just a smile can really shift someone’s day, I truly believe that. I think we all are capable of more love & kindness, myself included!
P.S. Love is definitely on my mind after the two-night finale of the Bachelorette haha! I always tell Devin…man, I’m so happy I didn’t have to go on a show like that to find you! ๐
I wanted to share my three things to not only help keep myself accountable, but to maybe give you a little inspo to come up with your own three things! Focusing on three things per week or per 2 weeks is so realistic & accomplishing everything else is just a bonus & will leave you feeling SO good about yourself at the end of the week!

I like the idea of choosing things to focus on for the week. That’s a great idea. We don’t have to just focus on positive change in the new year. It can be an every week type of thing.

Huh, I love this idea of having three things to focus on each week! I love that you are making time for your creativity! That’s so important. For me, I think I need to make time to RELAX. Sometimes I just keep going and going, but I need to take a breath and just “be” sometimes.
