Sharing my honest review after trying the 100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner, which is formulated & designed to support a healthy, nourished scalp, with clean, all-natural, herbal ingredients.
I’ve been using a few hair products from a clean brand called 100% Pure for a few months now & I wanted to share an honest review! I purchased the 100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner in the Burdock & Neem Healthy Scalp line because my scalp health is always something I try to improve. I love that this brand uses all-natural, clean ingredients & I’m always open to trying new clean products, so I decided to purchase this duo to see if the formulas matched the claims & reviews shared on the 100% Pure website!
Below, I will be sharing my experience using my 100% Pure hair products & why the shampoo & conditioner just isn’t my favorite. I’ll be covering packaging, scent, ingredients, overall performance, & a little more about the 100% Pure brand in general, because they are doing great things in the clean beauty space! Although this herbal shampoo & conditioner duo didn’t quite work out for me, maybe it will for you! I hope this honest review can help your decision on whether or not to purchase!
What is 100% Pure?
100% Pure is a clean beauty brand that uses 100% pure ingredients in their formulations & uses their brand to educate consumers on the importance of choosing clean & safe products to ultimately better our health & lives! They take pride in being sustainable, using natural pigments, being cruelty free, & transparent about ingredient sourcing which I can definitely appreciate. 100% Pure is also involved in a variety of philanthropy work & has multiple charitable partnerships worldwide!
Overall, they are definitely a brand you can feel good about supporting as a consumer. And rest assured, their ingredients are some of the cleanest out there, which takes away from any guesswork on your end trying to navigate lengthy ingredient lists & wondering if an ingredient is good or bad! Be sure to check out this post for some helpful tips for navigating product & ingredient labels as well!
What type of products does 100% Pure offer?
100% Pure offers a variety of beauty & personal care products all formulated in line with strict purity standards & free of harmful or questionable ingredients. Something that does stand out about their product offerings is that their makeup or anything with a pigment, is derived from either fruit, vegetables, tea, or cocoa to avoid questionable colorants & traces of heavy metals. With that said, 100% Pure offers a full makeup collection, including nail polishes & makeup brushes, a variety of skincare products, hair, hand, bath, & body products.
I’ve only tried a few products from 100% Pure. I purchased the Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream a handful of years ago after seeing Kate Hudson talk about it! That was my first introduction to the 100% Pure brand & one of my first real skincare purchases, as well as, one of the first clean products I ever used! I remember liking the eye cream but I never repurchased & probably won’t because I’ve since fallen in love with this Eye Rescue Cream, but it’s definitely loved by others, including Kate Hudson at the time!
I definitely plan on trying more products from 100% Pure & will continue to review & share them here on the blog & over on my IG stories as I do with any product or brand I love!
Where to buy 100% Pure products?
You can purchase 100% Pure products directly on their website & they have also partnered with a few online retailers, such as Revolve, & other authorized retailers to showcase either a full or partial collection of products. I have always purchased directly from the 100% Pure website when I’ve placed an order.
What type of hair products does 100% Pure offer?
100% Pure offers a variety of clean shampoos & conditioners specific to hair concerns such as adding in moisture, growth, repairing damage, healthy scalp, volumizing, glossing, & restoring health back to your hair. So there’s definitely a lot to choose from! They also have a few hair treatments such as a Pro-Vitamin B5 Smoothing Hair Serum (which I really like a lot) & a Nourishing Argan Oil. All of the 100% Pure hair products follow suit with only using really clean & natural ingredients.
I do have to say that I love the Smoothing Hair Serum, it’s a super lightweight serum, that I like to apply to my hair when it’s damp to help smooth loose hairs & frizz (especially if I’m wearing my hair naturally curly). It also helps add in shine thanks to Pro-Vitamin B5, & can help to reduce split ends.
When I do add a product to my hair, like this serum, I prefer a lightweight formula. I try to avoid any sort of build up on my hair or scalp from the products I use. This helps me extend my wash to my preferred amount of days since I oil train. So I like the 100% Pure Smoothing Serum because I can reap the benefits of the product without having to apply too much of it & I’m still able to stay on track with my wash cycle which is about every 7-9 days typically.
100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner Review
Overall Performance: 5/10
I was really excited about trying the Burdock & Neem Healthy Scalp Shampoo & Conditioner especially due to the claims of it benefiting dry & itchy scalps, which I tend to have. This shampoo & conditioner duo is designed to purify the scalp, unclog pores, & stimulate circulation to promote healthy hair growth. The ingredients (which I go into a little bit below), were chosen to help alleviate dryness, itching, & flaking of the scalp, while also helping to hydrate & replenish thirsty hair.
Along with being free of harmful or questionable ingredients that I like to avoid, you can read more about that here, this shampoo & conditioner is sulfate-free which means it’s a safe option for color treated hair as well.
Although I didn’t have any MAJOR issues with the 100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner duo, I just didn’t love it. My honest rating would be a 5/10.
Here’s why…
- With my thick curly hair, I have a really hard time getting the shampoo to lather properly.
- To get my full head of hair thoroughly lathered & clean, I had to use A LOT of shampoo.
- I noticed that my hair has been getting oiler, quicker since using this shampoo & conditioner which isn’t common for me since I’ve been oil training for years.
- Although I haven’t had any dandruff, I haven’t noticed any significant improvement with my scalp since using these products.
- I don’t feel like the conditioner made a huge difference & my hair was extremely knotty after washing.
- Both the shampoo & conditioner are $30 each. Based on my results & experience using both for a few months now, I don’t think the price justifies the overall performance of the product.
Overall, I just don’t think the 100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner, specifically the Burdock & Neem Healthy Scalp product line was a good fit for my hair. I think my hair is too thick & since I had to use a lot of product to wash my hair properly, I think that contributed to more build up on my scalp which resulted in my hair getting oiler quicker. If you do want to try this shampoo & conditioner duo, I definitely wouldn’t recommend trying if you have thick hair. I could potentially see it working out for you if you have thin hair, wanted to address any scalp concerns, & or if you wash your hair a few times a week.
Packaging: 8/10
The packaging is okay in my opinion. I would have preferred a different pump on both the shampoo & conditioner. The pump itself doesn’t allow much product to disperse out at once. I needed to use a large amount of the shampoo to lather my whole head of thick, curly hair. I had to pump the bottle quite a lot to get enough product out. In my opinion, if the pump had a longer stem, it would have been more efficient. 100% Pure also offers their shampoo & conditioner in a squeeze bottle as well, which is probably what I will go with if I decide to try any more of their shampoo & conditioner offerings.
Ingredients: 10/10
The ingredients in this 100% Pure shampoo & conditioner are awesome & extremely clean. Below are a few of the key ingredients found in this Burdock & Neem Healthy Scalp Shampoo & Conditioner!
-
Nettle – promotes healthy hair growth.
- Kelp – enriches skin & hair with essential minerals.
- Burdock – detoxifies & soothes skin.
Scent: 9/10
I don’t mind the scent on either the Burdock & Neem Healthy Scalp Shampoo or Conditioner because I’m used to herbal scented products, but if you don’t prefer an herbal scent, I’d suggest trying a lighter scent from their shampoo & conditioner line. They do have quite a few scent offerings to choose from based on your hair concern. I did notice that the conditioner has a stronger scent than the shampoo.
Rest assured that 100% Pure does not use any synthetic or artificial fragrances or parfums in their formulas. All fragrance scents are visibility listed in the ingredients on the back of the bottles & on the website. Fragrance transparency is something I always look for when purchasing products.
Would I buy the 100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner again?
Unfortunately no. Similar to the eye cream I tried years ago, although I love the brand’s mission & ingredient selection process, I’ve found the few products I have tried to lack performance, which is one of the biggest issues people have when switching over to clean beauty. With that said, I’m definitely open to trying more products from 100% Pure. I certainly don’t want to rule any of their products out that I haven’t yet tried. This review is just speaking on the few I have tried. Aside from the Smoothing Hair Serum, because as I mentioned, I do really like that product.
I hope this honest 100% Pure Shampoo & Conditioner review was helpful for anyone who might be interested in trying the brand! Although I didn’t love the shampoo & conditioner I tried, I do really love what 100% Pure is doing with their overall brand & the quality of ingredients used.
I have about 1/4 of my 100% Pure Shampoo left & a little less than half of my conditioner, which I’ll definitely finish because I don’t like wasting products, but I’m excited to go back to using my Beautycounter shampoo & conditioner. There are a few other clean shampoo & conditioner brands that I have my eye on, so I will be sure to share my review once I try them, because it’s nice to have options!
I want to hear from you! Have you tried anything from 100% Pure?
