Winter Sweaters Under $75

Winter Sweaters Under $75! Sharing ways to dress cozy for the winter while not breaking the bank. Also giving my best tip for creating a cropped sweater!

Winter Sweaters Under $75! Sharing ways to dress cozy for the winter while not breaking the bank. Also giving my best tip for creating a cropped sweater!

I’m no stranger to cold weather. I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, went to school & live in New Hampshire, was in Sweden last year, & this year I’m in Canada for the winter. And what do all of those places have in common? The winters are COLD COLD COLD. So I’m used to it. I actually love winter fashion the most out of all the seasons which I mentioned in my Winter Coats post. I mean what’s better than a big cozy sweater during the winter??? And under $75?! YES YES YES!

You know I love Marshalls. I mean who doesn’t? Sometimes you might have to spend a little more time looking through the racks but you can definitely score some really great pieces. This past fall, I revamped my fall & winter wardrobe at none other than my local Marshalls in New Hampshire. I found some amazing pieces including the cozy sweater I’m wearing in the photos. And if you didn’t already know, many Marshalls stores carry Free People apparel, which is amazing! Check out my Favorite Fashion Finds post to see the amazing FP dress I found! I’ve also found Zara & Urban Outfitters at Marshalls too!

Sweaters are definitely a staple item in my winter wardrobe. They can be worn so many different ways. One of my favorite ways to style an oversized sweater is worn over a long flowy skirt. This is a trend that has been very popular over the past season & I think it’s so cute & can give so much life to a sweater.

I have a trick that I want to share in regards to wearing & styling an oversized sweater. The sweater that I’m wearing in the photos is quite big. I like wearing sweaters that are a little over-sized because um, who wants to wear a tight sweater? This sweater is one of my new favorites, so I used my sweater trick to make it into a little crop which complemented the rest of my outfit nicely, while also giving me some shape. Oversized sweaters can sometimes make you look a little boxy & shapeless, which can be tricky to maneuver. So here’s my trick!

How to tuck your sweater into a crop!

  1. Find an oversized sweater
  2. Wear a sports bra or normal bra under the sweater but make sure whatever bra you wear, has a thick strap that lays across your torso.
  3. Tuck the ends of the sweater up under the bottom of your bra. This is why I like using a sports bra with a thick band!
  4. Pull the sweater higher or lower based on your preference.
  5. Ta-da! Your oversized sweater instantly has a new look to it! And I promise this trick works! My sweater does not come undone!

Since we are on the topic of sweaters, I wanted to share some really great options for winter sweaters under $75. Not everyone has an enormous budget when it comes to updating their closet every season. I get that… & it’s actually one of the main reasons I love shopping at Marshalls. You don’t have to sacrifice the quality of the item just because it’s not super expensive. I’ve even found really beautiful cashmere sweaters at Marshalls.

Yes, if you really want a cheap sweater, I’m sure you can go into the nearest Forever 21 & find one in 10 minutes, depending on how well the store is organized, LOL! What matters is the fit & the quality of the item, which ultimately makes the difference. With that said, I have a few sweaters from Forever 21 that look amazing…you would never know they are from there! Take time to look at how the item is made, the quality of the fabric, the fit, & how much wear you see yourself getting out of the piece! If it checks all the boxes, get it!

And on the contrary, don’t be fooled by a label! Something from Free People might be so cute, but just not fit your body properly or you might only wear it once! Shop smart!

I love H&M. I’m not big into patterns and their basic availability is perfect for my style needs. I will be trying out your sweater suggestion as I had a big sweater I almost threw out yesterday. But now I know what to do with it!

I have never tried an oversized sweater until this winter and I loved it! I got 2, but I have not been brave enough to wear my leopard print one yet…lol Love the first one with zipper detail too! 🙂
