Matisse Footwear – My current obsession for women’s ankle boots. The Going West Ankle Boot in Brown Snake..part of Coconuts by Matisse, is my winter go-to!
Hi everyone!! Today I wanted to share my latest obsession which just so happens to be a fabulous brand specializing in amazing footwear for women. Like amazing!!! Their silhouettes are so beautiful & so unique. I got my first pair of Matisse ankle boots back in October & I seriously fall more in love every time I wear them, so I thought I’d share!
I think Matisse really has something for any style that you may be looking for in regards to footwear, but I particularly really love their western inspired boots. The boots I have on in the photos are the Vegan Going West Boots from Coconuts by Matisse & are definitely western inspired due to the pointed toe & stacked heel. The pointed toe in particular is what gets me…I love it! It really elevates the look of this boot into something really chic & very much on trend. I find myself definitely leaning more towards a full to slightly pointed toe rather than a classic round toe shoe these days.
Another bonus of a good pointed toe? It instantly elongates your legs!
The snake skin print is a little outside of something I would usually gravitate towards, but I think it’s so subtle & really well done. This is something you have to be careful of when going for an animal print, because it can go wrong, really quick. I actually don’t have anything animal print, except for a skinny cheetah print belt, that I love & have had forever! But I saw these boots & couldn’t resist! They were a bday present too, which makes them extra special. 🙂
The Going West Boots come in a handful of colors but I ultimately went with the Brown Snake. These ankle boots also come in beige, black, brown, white, natural snake, & green croc (which is amazing)! I loved the deep caramel shades of the Brown Snake & I knew I could pair them with so many things in my closet. They can be worn with a variety of jeans & pants, neutral tones, off whites, deep forest greens, & even with a pop of red. The cut of these boots is also really nice. It’s a true ankle boot, but doesn’t cut off at an awkward spot which can then be tricky to wear with some jeans. These are perfect in my opinion. Matisse also has some options that go a little beyond the ankle which I featured later on in this post, if you are interested!
Moving on to quality.
These Going West Boots are beautifully made. Matisse did a wonderful job with the texture of the snake skin…& they’re vegan of course! You may have seen Matisse shoes at Free People, which is where I found these. If you see these boots in person, you can immediately point out the amazing craftsmanship in each boot.
The heel height is another great thing about these ankle boots. The stacked heel sits at almost 3 inches, so they are extremely comfortable while also giving a little height boost. The only thing that might be a little tricky is the sizing. Since these boots are pretty narrow, I would recommend sizing up if you have a wider foot. But ultimately the padded footbed makes for a very comfortable wear.
Can you tell I’m a fan?!

Could you see yourself rocking a western inspired silhouette? I linked some options above that are a bit more subdued than the snake print, but I can’t help myself, I love the snake print & will be wearing these religiously for the reminder of winter. And next year of course!
