These candida friendly coconut flour pancakes follow strict candida diet guidelines & make for a perfect gluten free, candida diet breakfast alternative!
Over the years I’ve experimented with a variety of diets to support the different chapters within my health journey. At the time of writing this post (July 2018), I was experimenting with a candida die-off diet to help solve some of the gut issues I was experiencing. Following candida diet guide lines can be tricky, so I had to use my imagination to come up with recipes that were still enjoyable to eat! One of them being these easy to make candida friendly pancakes! If you too find yourself looking for a candida diet breakfast option, give these gluten free pancakes a try!
If you’re new to the idea of a candida diet or candida friendly recipes, the purpose of the two is to die-off candida, also known as yeast overgrowth. This overgrowth is found within our gut & many people have it, even without knowing! Through the elimination of many foods, #1 being sugar…both added & natural, you should begin to see improvement due to the die-off of the yeast. This process of elimination gives your gut micro biome a reset, which is great for your overall gut health!
A candida friendly diet can be incredibly overwhelming. You have to eliminate sugar, refined grains, yeast, dairy, vinegar, raw foods, & alcohol, just to name a few. However you still can enjoy a variety of foods like healthy fats, eggs, grass-fed beef, wild-caught fish, bone broth, collagen, cooked vegetables, sprouted grains, herbs, honey, herbal teas, & superfoods!
Having candida friendly recipes on hand can be extremely beneficial for staying on track with your candida cleanse. Which brings me to these delicious coconut flour pancakes!
Coconut Flour Pancakes
These candida friendly pancakes follow a candida diet cleanse protocol & make a fantastic & filling breakfast option! The base of these gluten free pancakes is coconut flour. Coconut flour, as well as, coconut oil fall within the guidelines of the candida diet. Coconut oil is highly beneficial when trying to die off yeast overgrowth due to its anti-microbial properties. The fatty acids found within coconut oil attack the candida membrane. This process assists with the die-off of the yeast.
Just to note! You don’t have to be on a candida diet to enjoy these candida friendly pancakes! These easy to make pancakes are a great option when it comes to breakfast for really anyone! I even like to drizzle some raw almond butter on top of mine to make them even more filling! Sometimes I’ll be really fancy & will add some raw coconut flakes or cacao nibs too!
These easy to make coconut flour pancakes are not only candida diet approved, they are also, free of gluten, dairy, grains, sugar.
Candida Friendly Coconut Flour Pancakes Recipe Details
This pancake recipe does call for three eggs. Eggs are allowed to be eaten while following a candida cleanse diet. You are more than welcome to try substituting the egg for a flax-egg, but it may alter the consistency & appearance of the batter. I personally did not test this recipe using a flax-egg or egg replacement.
I also used my homemade nut milk in this recipe. Mainly because it doesn’t contain any added sugar. If you are able to find a store-bought nut, seed, or coconut milk that doesn’t contain any sugar – go for it!
Although optional, this recipe also calls for collagen. Collagen can help reseal the lining of your gut, so it’s a great supplement to incorporate if you do have candida. If you’re looking for a great collagen brand to try, I’d recommend the Hydrolyzed Collagen from Perfect Supplements. Use code MADI10 for 10% off your Perfect Supplements purchase!

Hi Sue! Thanks for stopping by – unfortunately a flax-egg isn’t a direct substitute for the eggs in this specific recipe but you can certainly try! Best of luck to you on your healing journey! xo
Oh yum- what’s not to like about these babies!! Thank you for such a fab recipe- I have been struggling for tasty breakfast recipes so glad I tried this one. I topped mine with coconut flakes, almond butter and raspberry ‘jam’ (microwaved to jam). D licious!

Oh I can’t wait to try these as a Sunday treat! I just started this diet and am trying to make it fun when possible by trying new recipes. These sound amazing. My doc said a small amount of berries are permitted so I might just have to add some precious blackberries on top, as I live in Oregon and they’re growing everywhere/perfectly ripe right now.
That sounds perfect Lisa!! I’m so glad you came across my recipe! Hope you love it! xo
These look amazing! Can I substitute the flaxseed for chia seeds or almond flour ?
Hi! Thanks for stopping by! You can definitely add some chia seeds, I’d do a 1/2 tsp instead of a tbsp if you’re trying to substitute it for the flaxseed. The flaxseed isn’t an essential ingredient in this recipe, more so just to add some more nutrients, so you can skip it completely if it doesn’t work for you!
Is this supposed to come out like a batter because mine is thick?
It shouldn’t be too thick, did you make any substitutions?
This looks so good! Does it matter if the flaxseeds are whole or ground?
Hi Mary! Thanks for stopping by! I would definitely suggest ground flaxseeds!
Hi can I use buckwheat flour instead?
You can definitely try! If you’re looking to make them Candida friendly, I’d suggest double checking to see if buckwheat flour is a good choice within the Candida diet!
Question: The ingredients list has 2 Tbsp of Coconut Oil but the instructions say to mix everything together except the coconut oil. I’m confused…..is the coconut oil only used for cooking them on?
Yes, use the coconut oil on the skillet to cook them!
