Wondering what it’s really like being a Beautycounter consultant? I’m sharing everything you need to know about the consultant opportunity & why I joined!
Hi everyone! Today I want to share my experience & chat about what it’s really like being a Beautycounter consultant, because today is my 6th month anniversary of joining!! I decided to take the leap of faith the day after by 25th birthday in October, after going back & forth on the idea for about a month & a half. And wow, I can’t express how grateful I am to now have such an incredible opportunity to not only share products I absolutely LOVE, but ones that are safe, & the ability to be a part of a company who is changing the beauty industry as a whole!

What started as me being excited to share these amazing clean products that I was loving, really turned into a true passion over the past six months. I’ll share a little more about my “why” for joining below but it really has become something so much bigger than just products. Even though I do love my products haha! Americans are facing health issues, disease, & autoimmune disorders like never before & something needs to change!
So many people have never even thought to question the ingredients found within their beauty & personal care products.
As someone who has struggled with my health in the past & have an autoimmune condition, I remember switching to what I thought was a “cleaner” alternative years ago & turns out, although it may have been better than some other products, it surely wasn’t clean. But that’s the thing! There is such a lack of communication & awareness regarding the products we use, the ingredients found in these products, & our HEALTH!!!!
You don’t have to take my word for it either, there are plenty of studies out there linking MANY common ingredients to cancer, breast cancer, endocrine disruption, skin issues, skin irritation, allergies, liver toxicity, diabetes, birth defects, infertility, & MORE! If that doesn’t tell you that somethings up, I’m not sure what will.
Beautycounter not only provides safe products for the entire family to use, but they provide a chance to be a part of real, meaningful change. Earlier this year, our founder & CEO, Gregg Renfrew had a chance to speak in front of Congress to represent the ENTIRE beauty industry. Not only the clean beauty industry, but the beauty industry as a whole – that’s pretty impressive! As a result of the endless work Beautycounter has done, we were able to make history this year & together, we drove the first vote on cosmetics reform in 80+ years!
Before I get into the most common questions about being a Beautycounter consultant, I wanted to share my “why.” My why is why I personally joined this company & movement. Everyone’s why might look a bit different, but that’s the beauty of this business. You can make this opportunity into whatever you’d like it to become. Some women join solely for the product discount, & guess what? That’s totally okay!
So let’s get into it!
Why I joined Beautycounter…
I decided to become Beautycounter consultant because I felt extremely passionate about sharing clean products that didn’t have to sacrifice performance for safety. I never want to question the products I use, & nor should I! Beautycounter eliminates any guess work. Their commitment to transparency, their ingredients, & the mission behind it all, is like no other & it’s something I feel 100% confident about lending my voice towards.
With the lack of education regarding clean beauty & harmful ingredients allowed by the FDA in our common everyday products, it’s not only apparent but also crucial to spread awareness regarding the products we use & apply onto our bodies every single day.
Not using clean products isn’t an option for me. I’m 100% a product junkie…I LOVE my products but I will NOT comprise my health for the products I use. There is no person that wouldn’t truly benefit from the products Beautycounter offers & I’m proud to share that solution.
Q: What’s the best part of the business?
A: There’s so many amazing things about being a part of this business. Not only am I playing a part in actively changing the beauty industry, but I also have the opportunity to share a fantastic solution with so many people, & not only that, but a solution that works & actually performs amazingly well.
I also have the ability to bring in an income while also sharing & talking about these amazing products, which is truly a blessing. You can make this business into anything you’d like it to be! Some people join for the discount, some want to do it as a hobby, others do it part time, & some do it full time! Only you can determine what you personally want to get out of the business, & the best part? ANYONE can do it!
The Beautycounter community is also one of the best unexpected surprises that this business offers too. My mentor is incredible & all of the other consultants who I’ve met online have been nothing short of amazing, so helpful, & so supportive. It’s a fantastic community to be a part of & what’s even better is that we are all working towards the common goal of getting safer products into the hands of everyone, so that alone is really powerful & fun to be a part of!

Q: What’s your least favorite thing about being a consultant?
A: Believe me when I say that there isn’t anything really to dislike, seriously! If I had to pinpoint one thing, it’d be that consultants aren’t eligible for free shipping on standard orders, but that’s it!
Q: Does it cost more money for me to shop with a consultant?
A: No! It doesn’t cost you anything at all to shop with a consultant. Shopping with a consultant does give you a customized shopping experience because we can act as the middle man if you have a customer service issue, we can keep you updated on orders & sales, give personalized product recommendations, send out samples, etc.!

Q: Do consultants have to meet monthly minimums?
A: There are no monthly minimums & or extra fees when you sign up to be a Beautycounter consultant! If you do become a consultant, you will be asked to pay a $50 fee each year to keep your website up & running, but that’s it. But that’s pretty standard though. If you have any sort of website, you have to annually pay to keep it up!
Q: Do consultants have to buy a certain amount of products or keep inventory?
A: Beautycounter consultants are not required to buy a certain amount of products or keep any sort of inventory. The products that I have on hand are ones that I have purchased because I wanted to. I also keep samples on hand, because they are a really great business tool, but again, they are not required.
Q: What are the sales requirements?
A: Beautycounter doesn’t require monthly sales requirements, but consultants are required to sell $1,200 every 6 months, which does includes your starter set & any purchases you personally make as well! The $1,200 may seem a little daunting, but it’s very doable…broken down, it comes out to $200 a month! And your mentor will help you every step of the way!
Q: Is Beautycounter a pyramid scheme?
A: No. Pyramid schemes are illegal. Beautycounter is a multi-channel business meaning there is multiple ways to access our products. One being through shopping with a consultant, shopping directly through the e-commerce website, shopping at a physical pop-up (Beautycounter has a few across the U.S.), & in a physical store – we did a collaboration with Target & J.Crew a few years ago! Beautycounter was also featured in Sephora for three months in 2020 during a limited-time pop-up!
Q: Do you have to have a blog or a lot of followers to be successful?
A: Absolutely not. Anyone can be successful with this business. It’s so much more than having a certain amount of followers on social media or a blog. There are plenty of successful consultants who don’t utilize social media at all! It depends on the person. No matter if you have 500 followers or 100k, you’ll find that you’ll be successful through genuine sharing & real conversations.
Q: Do Beautycounter consultants get a product discount?
A: YES! All active consultants are able to purchase product at a 25% discount which is amazing! And we also have the ability to earn free product, half-off product, incentives, & are able to shop new products before they launch at a highly discounted rate!
Q: How can I learn how to be a consultant – is there training?
A: Beautycounter provides incredible training for all new & active consultants. We have access to an abundance of training materials, images to use, helpful information to share, videos, specific product training, & more! Your mentor is also there with you every step of the way encouraging you, answering questions, offering suggestions, & teaching you ways to make the most out of this business. I truly lucked out with my mentor, like I said earlier, she is the real deal, & I feel so grateful to now call her a friend.

Q: Are you required to build a team?
A: No, you are not required to build a team, but if you do, it’s a lot of fun. If you do decide to build a team, that’s when you can really tap into the potential financial growth & opportunity this business provides.
Q: Can you make money right away?
A: Yes! As soon as you join as a Beautycounter consultant, you have the ability to earn a paycheck! You will begin to earn a commission no matter how much or how little you sell. Consultants automatically start off making 25% commission with the ability to earn up to 35% commission!
Q: How do I join?
A: First find a mentor! If you know someone personally that is already a Beautycounter consultant, you could ask them. There’s also an option to search for consultants in your area on our website. OR if you don’t know of anyone, I’d love to have you on my own personal Beautycounter team! On the Beautycounter website there is an option to “Join” & that will take you through the necessary steps to enroll as a consultant.
You have the option to purchase a starter set if you already don’t have products. When I joined, I was a little hesitant to dish out the money for a starter set. But wow, I would have definitely regretted if I didn’t choose to purchase one when enrolling. If you have the means, I highly recommend a starter set.
It currently costs just $50 to start a Beautycounter business & $21 if you’re already a Band of Beauty Member. So for $50, you can have your own business up & running!
